The Michigan state playoffs are complete. All the players fought through a crazy season and put on a tremendous show. The Final 4 in Division 2 was a classic. In the semifinals, Detroit Renaissance battled to a 75-72 win against Wayne Memorial. On the other side of the bracket, Hudsonville defeated Midland Dow by a score of 49-37.In the championship game, Hudsonville earned a hard fought 65-61 victory over Detroit Renaissance.
<h2>HONORABLE MENTIONS</h2>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="138299" first="Kailee" last="Davis"] (2021, PG, Detroit Renaissance)</strong>
Davis ended her high school basketball career showing how elite she truly is. She was a lightning rod with the ball in her hands and averaged 29.5 points per game in the Final 4.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28015" first="Mikyah" last="Finley"] (2021, SG, Detroit Renaissance)</strong>
Finley was so impressive in the Final 4. It was easy to see her silky smooth athleticism and body control. In the smifinals she had 18 points and 5 steals while she racked up 13 points and 5 rebounds in the title game.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="186364" first="Alexandra" last="Kolnitys"] (2022, PG, Midland Dow)</strong>
Kolnytis had a statement season that ended with a statement Final 4 game. She had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27968" first="Alanna" last="Micheaux"] (2021, PF, Wayne Memorial)</strong>
Micheaux is an elite post player in Michigan and beyond. She was unstoppable in the paint, ending her semifinal game with 29 points and 17 rebounds.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="188564" first="Maddie" last="Petroelje"] (2023, SF, Hudsonville)</strong>
Petroelje was a big reason that Hudsonville was able to beat Midland Dow and advance to the championship game. She led the team in scoring in the semis with 15 points.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147720" first="Jaci" last="Tubergen"] (2022, SG, Hudsonville)</strong>
Tubergen was absolutely terrific in the Final 4. As a guard, she averaged 11.5 rebounds in the final 2 games. Tubergen was unstoppable in the finals, exploding with a 28 point performance.
<h2>MOST VALUABLE PLAYER</h2>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147728" first="Alaina" last="Diaz"] (2022, CG, Hudsonville)</strong>
Over the course of the Final 4, and the entire state playoffs at that, Diaz established herself as one of the premier point guards in the state of Michigan. In the semifinals, she had 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. Most importantly, in a tough game against a solid defensive team in Midland Dow, Diaz had only 2 turnovers. In the title game against Detroit Renaissance, she had 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Diaz was able to fight off the pressure of what is most likely the top defensive team in the state. She was able to control the orchestrate getting the ball down the floor with both the dribble and the pass. When the lights were the brightest, Diaz was cool and collected. She started the state playoffs as a tremendously talented player that those close to the game were familiar with. Diaz ended the playoffs as a champion, a well known player in the state, and a name to be tossed around in the Miss Basketball conversations for next year.
