<strong>Final: South Medford 61, NW Select White 46</strong>
In Meridian, Idaho this past weekend two clubs from Oregon locked horns as South Medford took on NW Select White. [player_tooltip player_id="158487" first="Toni" last="Coleman"] for South Medford was a problem for NW Select White as she found ways to score in the transition as well as in the half-court setting as an elusive floor general with aggressive slashing tendencies. [player_tooltip player_id="158483" first="Kaili" last="Chamberlin"] continued to show off her overall scoring aptitude as a highly skilled guard with great scoring variability. [player_tooltip player_id="158529" first="McKenzie" last="Hirsch"] had a great shooting for NW Select White as a crafty wing who makes the most out of her touches as she had a few triples - including one to end the first half as NW Select trailed 20-34. NW Select also showed the return of [player_tooltip player_id="158558" first="Eliza" last="Buerk"], a skilled center who showed the ability to defend, rebound, and space the floor. Ultimately, South Medford took this one 61-46 but both clubs showed tremendous battle throughout the entirety of the game.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158487" first="Toni" last="Coleman"] 2021 5’4" PG South Medford</strong> - The Chico State signee showed a lot of energy and anticipation in the open court as she used her burst speed and strength to finish at the rim. Contributed 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists as an all-around floor general who defensively is sparked and engaged.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158483" first="Kaili" last="Chamberlin"] 2021 5’9" SG South Medford</strong> - Finished with a game high 21 points as she was the most dominating scorer in the game. She hit from alongside the perimeter as well as showed wiggle in the paint. Deceptive athlete who has great body control which allows her to get off a number of creative shots.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="204592" first="Shakia" last="Teague-Perry"] 2021 5’9" PF South Medford</strong> - Shakia played a wing role, sitting baseline and reading and reacting to the defense accordingly. The first thing that stands out about Teague-Perry is her motor as leaping abilities as she is a rugged type of player who makes a great effort. Contributed 4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals in an all-out effort.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158520" first="Sierra" last="Logue"] 2022 6’3" C South Medford</strong> - Logue is a lean and athletic two-way player for South Medford who shows fluidity at the rim, not shying away from contact. She can hit the mid-range jumper and uses her long limbs well around the rim. Contributed 12 points and 5 rebounds for South Medford.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158504" first="Emma" last="Schmerbach"] 2021 5’9" SG South Medford </strong>- Schmerbach was a boost of energy and efficiency for South Medford as she came in and scored in a microwave type of manner for her team. A talented cross country runner, Emma showed the ability to run up the floor tirelessly. Contributed 9 points for South Medford.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158529" first="McKenzie" last="Hirsch"] 2022 5’11" SF NW Select White</strong> - McKenzie finished with 14 points for NW Select White as she didn’t shy away from South Medford at all. She hit several three-pointers with an excellent shot selection. A versatile utility type of offensive player that doesn’t need any plays ran for her. Made an open mid-range jumper and showed great finishing abilities at the rim.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="158558" first="Eliza" last="Buerk"] 2023 6’2" C NW Select White</strong> - Buerk made her debut after knee surgery as she looked comfortable on the court with her teammates. Upon first glance, it is her size and length which makes an initial impact. She has the ability to stretch the floor and is a natural rebounder and rim protector. Contributed 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.
<strong>Ava Aris 2022 5’10" SF NW Select White</strong> - Ava showed great strides as an interior scorer who uses her size and length well. She contributed 8 points and 3 rebounds as she is an aggressive offensive player and precise rebounder in the paint. Had an impressive showing versus a stacked South Medford club.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="211120" first="Olivia" last="Poulvaati"] 2023 6’0" PF NW Select White</strong> - the soccer/basketball star showed innovative passing abilities as well as an adept defensive mindset. Contributed 5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals as an all-around player who has great awareness as a rebounder, scorer, and passer.
