<strong>Florida Top Rebounders </strong>

<em>The High School has concluded, and players are transitioning to the travel season. We are taking a look back at the state’s top rebounders for the 2020-21 High School season. </em>
2021 <strong>Megan Sweeney</strong> (Marco Island Academy)
Sweeney led the entire state in rebounding with an impressive 18.2 rebounds per game, totaling 185 defensive rebounds, 106 offensive rebounds for 291 total rebounds on the season in 16 games. Marco Island finished 14-2 on the season and Sweeney was a big part of the team’s success, finishing the season as the team’s leading rebound and second leading scorer. She was very consistent on the boards, reaching double digit rebounds in 15 of the teams 16 games and also have five 20+ rebound games as well as two 30+ rebound games in December where she grabbed 33 rebounds vs Oasis and 34 rebounds vs Everglades City!
2021 <strong>Montayasia Jones</strong> (Suwanee HS) 6’0 Forward/Center
Jones wraps up the 2020-21 season as the states 2<sup>nd</sup> leading rebounder accumulating 16.5 RPG, 263 defensive rebounds, 84 offensive rebounds, for a total of 347 total rebounds in 21 games. The 347 rebounds # 3 in state for total rebounds behind [player_tooltip player_id="91588" first="Janiyah" last="Jackson"] and Nia Blocton and 263 Defensive Rebounds were # 1 in state. In addition to being the teams leading rebounder, Jones was 2<sup>nd</sup> in the team scoring. The 6’0 Forward/Center helped her team to an 11-10 record on the season falling to Marianna in the district playoffs. Jones finished the season with double digit rebounds in 20 of the teams 21 games and had five 20+ rebound games as well as a season high 33 rebounds vs Branford on December 11, leading her team to the 64-59 win!
2024 <strong>Nia Blocton</strong> (Ridgeview HS)
Blockto finishes 3<sup>rd</sup> on the season in rebounds per game with 16.2. She was equally dominant on both the offensve and defensive glass finishing with 191 defensive rebounds and 166 offensive rebounds for a total of 357 rebounds in 22 games. The 166 offensive rebounds was # 1 in the state while the 357 total rebounds were # 2 in state behind [player_tooltip player_id="91588" first="Janiyah" last="Jackson"] (St. Augustine). The young Freshman had a spectacular first season at the varsity level finishing first in rebounding and second in scoring on her team, helping lead them to a 15-7 record. She finished with double digit rebounds in 19 of the teams 22 games while grabbing 20+ rebounds in 6 of the teams 22 games including a season high 26 rebounds vs St Johns Country Day on December 1.
2022 <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="154906" first="Kennedy" last="Cannon"]</strong> (Centennial HS) Forward/Center
Centennial HS had an abbreviated season playing just 13 games, going 9-4 on the season falling to Palm Beach Lakes in the regional playoffs.
Junior Forward/Center <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="154906" first="Kennedy" last="Cannon"]</strong> has a big season averaging 15.9 rebounds per game (76 Defensive Rebounds, 115 Offensive Rebounds, and 191 Total Rebounds). Cannon was a monster on the offensive glass nearly averaging double-digit ORBs on the season averaging 9.6 offensive rebounds per game. Cannon finished the season as her team’s leading rebounder and scorer averaging 15.1 PPG in what was a break-out season for her.
2023 <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="248617" first="Kathryn" last="Serra"]</strong> (Ransom Everglades)
Ransom Everglades had a shorted season due to COVID delaying the start of the season in the Miami area. Serra averaged an impressive 15.7 RPG, grabbing 188 Total Rebounds in just 12 games! Her coming out party was a January 11<sup>th</sup> game vs Florida Christian where she grabbed 31 rebounds and 27 points!
2023 <strong>Riley Dobson</strong> (Coral Shores HS) 5’9 Wing
Coral Shores finished the season 10-5 and Senior Riley Dobson was a big part of the team’s success. She averaged 15.2 rebounds per game (90 defensive rebounds, 77 offensive rebounds, and 167 total rebounds in 16 games). She accumulated double digit rebounds in 14/15 games white having a career game on November 11 vs Somerset Academy Silver Palms grabbing 21 rebounds while also scoring 14 points.
2022 <strong>Mikayla Clinton</strong> (Zephyrhills HS) 5’10 Wing/Forward
Clinton was consistent on glass all season averaging 15.0 rebounds per game in 23 games. She had double digit rebounds in all but 1 game and helped lead her squad to an 18-9 record and a district championship. Her 250 defensive rebounds were # 2 in state behind <strong>Montayasia Jones</strong> (Suwannee). The defensive glass was Clinton’s specialty, grabbing 10+ defensive rebounds in 16/26 games while also eclipsing the 20 total rebound mark twice on the season vs Hudson in November and vs Cypress Creek in January.
2022 <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91588" first="Janiyah" last="Jackson"]</strong> (St. Augustine HS) Forward
Jackson was a huge part of St. Augustine record breaking season, helping lead them to an undefeated regular season and a 26-2 overall record. Jackson averaged 14.3 RPG (228 defensive rebounds, 144 offensive rebounds, and 372 total rebounds in 28 games). While many teams had shorted seasons, St Augustine played 28 games and Jacksons 372 total rebounds were # 1 in state and her 228 defensive rebounds were # 3 in state behind <strong>Montayasia Jones</strong> and <strong>Mikayla Clinton. </strong>
2022 <strong>Miya Allgood</strong> (Palmetto HS) Forward/Center
Allgood had a fantastic Junior season for Palmetto HS just coming up short averaging a double-double for the season averaging 14.0 RPG and 9.6 PPG. On the rebounding front, Allgood grabbed 134 defensive rebounds and 159 offensive rebounds, totaling 293 Total Rebounds in 21 games. The 159 offensive boards were # 3 in state behind <strong>Nia Blocton </strong>(Ridgeview) and <strong>Paige Clausen</strong> (Barron Collier).
