Continue ReadingThe Finley Center down in Hoover, AL was on fire this past weekend. The Girls UAA session 1 was on point. Teams from across the country went toe to toe and had the crowd on the edge of their seats. From rocker moves to dazzling passes, the atmosphere was crazy.
Tennessee had two teams representing the state down south. These young ladies fought hard, showcased their skills, and showed why we are some of the best in the country at what we do. Clubs such as Team B. Wright and Team B. Maze, held it down for our state, and they didn’t disappoint. Both clubs were phenomenal and represented us in each of their perspective divisions. Look for these clubs to go on and bring the fire in the Girls UAA Session 2.
These student-athletes rocked the jersey of their clubs but left coaches remembering their names for sure.
Makyah Thomas- Malone (So./CG/ Team B. Wright)– The 5’9 combo guard from Harding Academy is a game-changer. She is nice when she has the ball in her hands. She is a great all-around talent that dominates on both ends of the floor. From controlling boards and blocking shots, to finishing at all 3 levels offensively, she can do it all. This weekend, she showed why she is moving up in the rankings for PGH Tennessee. She played with such intensity and was relentless defensively. She will have a big summer for sure.
Acacia Hayes Acacia Hayes 5'7" | PG Riverdale | 2022 State TN (Jr./ CG/ Team B. Wright) – The 5’7 CG showed why she is the best in the state. She poured in 29pts against a tough Team Curry squad. Acacia showed everyone why she is one the most highly-touted in the country. She plays the game so smoothly and can transition from one gear to the next. She can do it all from shooting the ball from deep, displaying a nice mid-range game, or just by finishing at the cup. Defensively, she can lock you down. It doesn’t matter the circuit, Acacia always brings her A-Game. UAA, let me introduce to you Ms. Acacia Hayes Acacia Hayes 5'7" | PG Riverdale | 2022 State TN . She is coming to dominate the competition.
Ni’Kiah Chesterfield Ni’Kiah Chesterfield 6'0" | C Oakland | 2023 State TN (So./ C/ Team B. Wright)– The 6’0 post player took huge strides this past weekend. She controlled the boards on both ends, facilitated passes to shooters or cutters coming through gaps, and got buckets herself. Ni’Kiah showed off impressive footwork as she unleashed step-through moves and other counter moves that led to buckets. Nicknamed Big Dawg, she showed everyone why she is a beast down low.
Jaloni Cambridge Jaloni Cambridge 5'8" | PG Ensworth | 2024 State FL (Fr./ PG/ FBC United )– This girl is just different. Rockin the sleeve with the A.I. flare, Jaloni is a big-ticket when it comes to girls basketball. She plays the game with such intensity yet poise, you never know what’s going to happen when she has the ball in her hands. This weekend she was the conductor of all her team’s success this weekend. From making passes to shooting the rock at a high clip, Jaloni showed why she is one of the best and most highly touted 2024 players in the country.
Sydney Mains Sydney Mains 5'11" | SF Knoxville Catholic | 2024 State TN (Fr./ SF/ FBC Reign)– The 6’0 forward from Knoxville Catholic is an exceptional talent. She dialed it from deep often this past tournament at a high clip. She played with poise, as she attacked gaps and finished at the rim. She was the catalyst for her team’s success during the first session. Though this was only session 1, Sydney played like a monster. Look for her to pick up even more momentum on the recruiting trail throughout the summer.
Maddox Mayfield Maddox Mayfield 5'8" | SG McMinn Central | 2024 State TN (Fr./ CG/ Team B. Maze)– The 5’2 PG had a great first session down in Hoover. She really garnished some attention from collegiate coaches. From finishing at the rim to locking up defensively, she showed her team’s scrappiness play. Maddox is great in transition and can push the ball up the floor. She is an all-around athlete ( 3 sports: Basketball, Track, Soccer) that will surely make some noise on the circuit for years to come.
Emma McCarter (Jr./SG/ Team B. Maze)– The 5’7 shooter from The King’s Academy was stroking it this past weekend. She launched the 3 ball at a high clip all weekend long for her ball club. She did her job by finishing shots as she received nice timely passes from teammates. Though this was just the first session, Emma proved to be someone to remember as her team looks to carve out a name for themselves on the UAA circuit.
On the Rise
Trinity Fields (So./PG/ Team T. Wright)– The 5’4 PG from Brentwood Academy is tough. Defensively, she is going to get up in you the length of the court. This weekend she unleashed an arsenal of moves that allowed her to get downhill to the cup. Though she had a big presence on defense, she commanded the offense and pushed the ball. Look for her to have a great summer season.
Angel Martin (Fr./CG/Team Curry)– The 5’10 CG from Clarksville is a dynamic two-way player. She locks down defensively and can create turnovers for her squad. Offensively, she is great at attacking downhill and finishing at the rim. She introduced herself to the UAA circuit this first session. Look for her to make some noise in session 2.
Tishana Moore Tishana Moore 5'9" | SF Blackman | 2024 State TN (Fr./ SF/ Team B. Wright)– The 5’9 Blackman baller is catching up to speed. She had to sit out the high school season because she transferred, but this past weekend, the caged lioness was out. Tishana was on the boards, creating turnovers, and delivered nice mid-range shots over the weekend. She will be someone to keep an eye on as she moves forward this upcoming season.
Annie Buisson(Fr./PG/ Team B. Wright)– This fiery floor general from Brentwood Academy is nice. She is a gym rat who wears her heart on her sleeve. She may be standing 5’4, but don’t let the height fool you. She plays the game as her life depended on it. This weekend, she unleashed deadly 3 balls, finished at the rim, and brought tons of energy to an awesome B. Right team. Look for Annie to build up even more momentum moving towards session 2.
