The 2023 Palmetto State Class sure lived up to its expectations this weekend. Lets checkout some players who stood out in performance right here in Part 1.
Hailey Chiles Hailey Chiles 6'3" | C Legacy Early College | 2023 State SC – Greenwood HS – A’ja Wilson Elite 2022 – Dickerson (pictured on front)
Chiles has really expanded her game to the perimeter after knocking down a handful of three pointers from the corners. Chiles has GREAT HANDS in the post and catches everything thrown her way. Chiles was able to finish with a nice jump-hook around the cup on the day while carving out space down in the paint. Chiles finished 12 points in a opening win over FBC NWA based out of Washington State.
J’Adore Young J’Adore Young 6'4" | C Greenville | 2023 State #27 Nation SC – Greenville HS – A’ja Wilson Elite 2022 – Dickerson
Young and Chiles helped the Red/White/Blue defeat a very good FBC NWA team in the opener 47-44. Young recorded 11 points and 4 blocks in the game. Young can step-out and knockdown the short elbow jumper when she’s not crashing the glass. Young has a soft touch around the basket and finishes most of her shots inside the paint. Young just like Chiles both play up a age group with A’Ja Wilson Elite 2022 squad.
Peighton Jambor Peighton Jambor 6'2" | PF Berkeley | 2023 State SC – Berkeley HS (Moncks Corner)- TMP 16U
Jambor came out on fire in the opening game here at the Insider Exposure Apache Memorial with Prep Girls Hoops in attendance. Jambor was able to finish around the cup quite easily and rebound the ball well on both ends of the floor. Jambor has a great upside and really works from block to block down in the paint. Jambor finishes well on put-backs off the glass. Jambor doesn’t mind playing the game at times with a bit of a mean streak.
Kylee Kellermann Kylee Kellermann 5'7" | SG Philip Simmons | 2023 State SC – Philip Simmons HS – TMP 16U
SHOOTER alert right here down in Chuck Town. Kellermann really can get her shot off when she gets her feet set. Kellermann possess a great looking shooting stroke and seems most comfortable playing off the ball. Kellermann shoots the ball at a high percentage clip and doesn’t tend to force shots with her play.
Jyahni Smith Jyahni Smith 5'7" | SG Grayson | 2023 State GA – Berkeley HS (Moncks Corner) – Charleston Swarm
Smith really came to play today in her game against Low Country Premier (Charleston area based team). Smith was really able to finish at the rim at a high rate today. Smith a very quick point guard in the open floor is best suited playing up-tempo. Smith used a nice cross-over dribble to get by defenders and was able to finish at the rim with her left-hand quite effectively today. Smith and Jambor play together for the Lady Stags down in Berkeley County.
