KingCo basketball began its season recently and the Metro League is one of the next leagues to take the court for a condensed season that will be a handful of regular season games with no playoffs. Defending 3A state champions, Garfield, took the court against regular Metro contender in West Seattle.
Spectators were limited for this game and there are no publicly available statistics found for this game, but it featured some great college prospects from the Seattle area. While Garfield took the win 65-36, 2022 6’0 SF [player_tooltip player_id="27955" first="Jadyn" last="Watts"] is one that colleges are currently tracking from West Seattle. She has a great frame and smooth shooting stroke. The bulldogs were led by a versatile attack with 2021 6’1 C [player_tooltip player_id="82953" first="Desiree" last="Lane"] leading the way with 20+ points showing a ton of improvement from a season ago. 2022 5’11 SF [player_tooltip player_id="144532" first="Jada" last="Walters"] made her Lady Bulldog debut scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 boards unofficially.
One of the state’s top prospects also made her debut for Garfield with Katie Fiso scoring 7 points unofficially in her first game. Katie is the younger sister of 2020 3A State Champion and Tourney MVP, [player_tooltip player_id="20155" first="Meghan" last="Fiso"], who spent her freshman year at Michigan before recently announcing her plans to transfer to SDSU. The younger Fiso is a big time ball handler and unselfish point guard with good size at 5’10.
Other prospects to keep an eye on from Garfield include 2023 5’6 PG [player_tooltip player_id="115418" first="Naveah" last="Talbert"] who is a heady guard and good shooter, as well as 6’1 SF [player_tooltip player_id="115405" first="Imbie" last="Jones"] who is a super versatile wing player that can score from three levels.
