A few dozen college coaches were in attendance to watch some outstanding players – including these girls who stood out to our crew at PGH Ohio.
Payten Bruns – Hilliard Darby – Class of 2024
Bruns projects as a lanky 4-prospect. She is a creative scorer around the rim – using a number of different finishes to put the ball in the basket. She is a good ball-handler for her size and age. A great defender – Payten gets a high number of deflections through the course of a game, while also flashing the ability to block and alter shots.
Brooke Schantz – Berlin Center Western Reserve – Class of 2023
Schantz is a great point guard to lead a team. She is super-quick with outstanding handles. Brooke has no problem guarding the other team’s leading perimeter scorer and doesn’t have a problem with picking up full-court and applying pressure. She is a consistent scorer when the opportunity presents itself.
Kylie Leibacher Kylie Leibacher 5'11" | SF Castalia Margaretta | 2023 State OH – Margaretta – Class of 2023
Leibacher had another great showing – this time at the OGBR Spring Special. The big and strong wing played with a lot of energy – controlling the boards on both ends of the floor. Kylie showed glimpses of an improved jumper, that extended well-beyond the 3-point line. She finished a number of different driving moves with both hands at the rim.
Annabel Rodriguez – Chippewa – Class of 2023
Many basketball purists feel as if the mid-range game has disappeared from the scoring approach of basketball players across the world. If they saw Rodriguez the other day – they would feel as if there is still hope for mid-range scorers everywhere. Annabel scored in a number of different ways – including one-dribble pull-ups, floaters and step-throughs from the mid-range spots on the floor. She also showed a very good habit of rebounding the ball from the perimeter.
Airah Lavy Airah Lavy 5'10" | SF Nelsonville York | 2024 State OH – Nelsonville York – Class of 2024
A long guard – Levy has good athleticism and the skill to score at all 3 levels on the floor. Using her solid handles and footwork – Levy has an impressive pull-up game to match her quick first-step. She just looks so smooth with the ball in her hands – confident at all times.
