On Friday, April 23rd – the Ohio Girls Basketball Report held their annual Spring Special – a great way to begin the weekend at The Clash in Cincinnati. A few dozen college coaches were in attendance to watch some outstanding players – including these girls who stood out to our crew at PGH Ohio.
Madi Michaelson - Sylvania Northview - Class of 2022
As the game of women’s basketball seems to be evolving to a more perimeter-based approach - Madi Michaelson flashed the ability to play on the low block and in the high post. At over 6-feet tall, she has adequate size for a big - who runs the floor well. One of the best passers in the event, Michaelson looked like an ideal fit for the Princeton offense. She also has good post moves to both hands around the rim.
[player_tooltip player_id="32601" first="Haley" last="Crozier"] - Springboro - Class of 2022
It was fun to watch Crozier play the game of basketball - as her love of the game was evident. She chased down loose balls, gathered offensive rebounds and ran hard in transition. When she was out of the game - she supported her teammates. Haley is a competitor on defense - especially guarding the ball. She is also a solid shooter from 3.
Erica King - Akron Hoban - Class of 2024
Anyone who watches King understands that she has the potential to be special. She is consistently effective on the defensive end of the floor - where she uses her combination of long arms, anticipation and quickness to cause havoc. Offensively - she is most comfortable right now attacking the rim, but is starting to show signs of being able to beat teams from the perimeter as a shooter, as well - whether it be in catch-and-shoot or off-of-the-dribble situations.
[player_tooltip player_id="92529" first="Brinn" last="Hunt"] - Toledo Central Catholic - Class of 2022
It’s possible that [player_tooltip player_id="92529" first="Brinn" last="Hunt"] had the best day of any player at the OGBR Spring Special. She stood out from the moment her first game started - getting buckets all over the floor in a variety of ways. With outstanding length and a smooth jumper - she has the ability to score at all three levels. Brinn handles the ball well and also runs hard in transition.
Ashia Robinson - Painesville Harvey - Class of 2023
Ashia is a nice prospect from Ohio’s loaded 2023 class. She has great size on the perimeter as an off-guard/wing. An outstanding athlete - Robinson is in great shape - using her cardio and athleticism to constantly put pressure on opponents in transition. She scores in bunches in a hurry - at times, seemingly at will.
