I was able to make it out and watch some of the action at the Coach T Classic on Saturday night. My intentions were to watch a few specific teams and get some insights as to how they were looking early in the season. For that reason I really did not focus on trying to see many different teams and find every top level player in the building. Here is what I did see:

Libby Brewster is a 5'10 Wing from Francis Howell/ Lady BBE 2022. Libby is a tough 2/3 that plays hard and can contribute on both ends of the floor. She is a good defender both on and off the ball. On the ball she gets tight on the girl she is guarding and does not allow anything easy. Offensively she can score off the bounce or in the catch and shoot.

[player_tooltip player_id="162388" first="Saniah" last="Tyler"] Saniah continues to show how much her game has grown over the course of her high school career. She was a player as a freshman that teams would lay off and beg her to shoot from the outside. Hard work has changed that, she is a high level 3-point shooter now. In fact, she may rely on it too much. I only saw one game but she seemed less likely to attack the rim, which I think is still her strength. Saniah has multiple power 5 conference offers and is an outstanding player that is fun to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id="107964" first="Kyrah" last="Brodie"] KK makes such a huge impact in the game on the defensive end of the floor that the opposing team has to adjust how they play the game. She has the obvious advantage of being 6'4 but just as importantly she has an obvious feel for blocking shots and not fouling. KK rebounds well and has an improving offensive game.

[player_tooltip player_id="160153" first="Chloe" last="White"] Chloe has a unique ability to hit shots off the bounce. She does a good job of getting lift on her jump shots in the lane and can also twist and turn her body to find space to get a clean look. Chloe is also strong and can take contact and play through it. On defense Chloe shows the ability to be an elite defender as she does a good job on the ball, staying in front of the person she is guarding.

[player_tooltip player_id="124880" first="Adrenna" last="Snipes"] Adrenna has been through a tough 6 months by deciding to transfer back to Alton High School and then dealing with a knee injury. But, I saw some glimpses of her old self when watching her play on Saturday. When she is at her best she is attacking and playing at a fast pace. Adrenna showed her ability to get to the rim and finish over and around the rim protectors. She is a smart player that has learned to get her shots off before the defense can contest the shot when possible.

[player_tooltip player_id="265424" first="Amiah" last="Hargrove"] Amiah continues to show the strength, athleticism and skill to be a very high level player. She is playing on the Lady BBE 15u team and is poised to have a big summer. In the game I saw she was very active against a zone defense, finding open spots and attacking the offensive boards. Amiah also does a very good job of finishing her opportunities when she gets them.

[player_tooltip player_id="194410" first="JaNyla" last="Bush"] JaNyla is a true point guard that continues to show excellent court vision and understanding of the game. The game I saw she was masterful in recognizing the open spots against the opposing defense and delivering the right passes in the right spot. JaNyla has excellent handles and works very well in a fast paced game where she can work in and out of traffic and create scoring opportunities.

[player_tooltip player_id="148145" first="Abbey" last="Schreacke"] Abbey is a strong and skilled wing that is capable of taking over a game for periods of time. She is an excellent shooter that is best in the mid range attacking her defender. Abbey uses her length well and is very comfortable playing through contact.

[player_tooltip player_id="107016" first="Natalie" last="Potts"] I was only able to catch a small part of the Bluestar 16's first bracket play game, but as I did it reminded me what I like most when i watch Natalie play. She has a very high motor and is willing to play defense. While the points and the rebounds get the most attention it is her wing span and anticipation at the top of their press that most likely haunts opposing coaches the most. Natalie gets so many tips and causes so many turnovers by getting her hands up and causing problems for smaller guards.
