Tonight a look at some of the top shooting guards last weekend at the Western PA Bruins Tip Off in Pittsburgh. Impressive Shooting Guards Sophie Ziel, 5-8 2025, Ohio Elite 2025 Has a solid three-point game and effective from around the arc. Defensively she is a full court presence and can push the ball in transition. An uptempo kid, and looks to have a great summer and a big freshman season ahead at Olentangy Liberty. [player_tooltip player_id="157688" first="Margo" last="Mattes"], 5-11 2023, Ohio Elite 2023 She is the #2 ranked 2023 player in Ohio according to the latest PGH Ohio rankings for a reason. She loves to play in the open court. Handles the ball well, can penetrate and score. Can get her teammates involved with good passing skills. Good defender. Pictured left. Taysia Anderson, 5-8 2023, BBA 16UAA What elevated me toward her was her extreme quickness and leadership she showed against the Ohio Elite squad. Good hands and can create for her team off turnovers. Loves to push the ball north-south and has good range from the perimeter. She is able to control the tempo of the game, [player_tooltip player_id="93556" first="Rylee" last="Sagester"], 5-7 2023, West Virginia Thunder 11th What a performance she put on her first game on Saturday. She connected from four long range three’s early in the game and showed her skills with good handles and an improved skill set. Great work ethic and should open eyes this summer with her talented squad. Pictured right. [player_tooltip player_id="217328" first="Airah" last="Lavy"], 5-9 2024, Team Ohio Conner Her game continues to grow, and she put on a couple of good games that I saw last weekend. Airah is a good shooter off the pass, has good range and moves well without the ball. Really liked the way she played a smart game with a good basketball IQ. [player_tooltip player_id="92513" first="Allison" last="Basye"], 5-11 2022, SCBC 2022 Loved her game! First time I had really gotten a chance to sit down and watch her game, and she does have a complete game. One big thing is her ability to take over a game when needed. Great scorer, very deep range and has the ability to slash and score at the rim. D1 kid and will make noise at the next level. Pictured left. Payton Johnson, 5-7 2024, SCBC 2022 On a team filled with seniors, it was the sophomore Johnson who opened the eyes of those in attendance. She is a solid point guard and has very good handles. Quick and athletic who is an aggressive on-ball defender. If she is open, she will knock it down. [player_tooltip player_id="270608" first="Makenzie" last="Chinn"], 5-4 2024, Cincinnati Angels Her travel coach was still raving about her after her game ended. She loves to push the ball and has skills to handle the ball or play the 2 spot with incredible shooting skills. Can handle the pressure and had a high basketball IQ to lead her team. Jayda Mosley, 5-6 2024, Cincinnati Angels Good future ahead of her as she shined throughout their game that was played on Saturday. Has a good perimeter game, good catch-and-shoot player. Just makes it happen. Kate Oliver, 5-10 2022, PVT HGSL 2022 What I love about her game is her ability to play under control and focus on making the best play for her team. She is a bigtime workhorse and focusing on making the right play for her team. Moves well, can score inside or out and gets into the passing lanes.
