This piece specifically focuses on the class of 2022, however, future posts will include more of a class variety. This analysis is meant to serve as assistance for scouts as well as a spotlight for all of the talented young basketball players who just want to showcase their skills.
2022 5’7 G Natalie Johnson Natalie Johnson 5'7" | CG North Point | 2022 State MD – North Point – Fairfax Stars
Natalie is a pass first point guard with incredible ball handling skill. She is by far the best facilitator on this list, and, if necessary, she’s more than capable of scoring at will. Her finishing around the basket is superb, and on defense Natalie almost always leads her team in steals. Once she gets out into offensive transition there’s pretty much no stopping Natalie Johnson Natalie Johnson 5'7" | CG North Point | 2022 State MD and the North Point Eagles from scoring. Watch out for Natalie to continue to shine bright during her grassroots play for the Fairfax Stars. There’s no doubt she’s a prime collegiate hoops prospect.
2022 5’11 SF Victoria Beresford Victoria Beresford 5'11" | SF St. Andrew's Episcopal | 2022 State MD – St. Andrew’s Episcopal – Team Takeover
Victoria has size and is a natural scorer and defender inside the paint, however, she is equally comfortable handling the basketball and playing more of a combo guard role. The reason for this is her mid-range and three point shooting. Victoria is spectacular at creating space for her jump shot, and she is more than capable of sinking shots from anywhere. Her southpaw stroke really confuses defenses and if she gets pressed by the defense she utilizes an incredible shot fake drive move that is nearly un-guardable. Scouts and D1 programs everywhere should keep a close eye on Victoria during her grassroots play for Team Takeover and even into next season with St. Andrew’s Episcopal. She’s bound to make a huge impact at the next level.
2022 5’9 SF Kirah Dandrige Kirah Dandrige 5'9" | SF New Hope Academy | 2022 State MD – Excellence Christian Academy – DC Premier
Since early on in her high school career Kirah Dandridge has really proven herself as a premier high school basketball player. From blocks to three point shooting and all in between, Kirah can simply do it all. With the pandemic completely ending her season, there’s no doubt that Kirah is going to storm into grassroots play with a vengeance. The sky is the limit for DC Premier when Kirah is on the court and she will no doubt begin to prove why that is during offseason play. Everyone must remember the name Kirah Dandridge.
2022 5’9 SF Ava McGee Ava McGee 5'9" | SF Maret | 2022 State MD – Maret – Maryland Lady Finest
There are few players scrappier on the basketball court than Ava McGee Ava McGee 5'9" | SF Maret | 2022 State MD . She is an absolute terror for her opponents on defense and her basketball IQ is some of the highest in the state. Her ability to score around the basket has consistently improved over the years, along with her facilitation skill, therefore there’s no question that Ava is primed for a breakout season. Ava McGee Ava McGee 5'9" | SF Maret | 2022 State MD and the Maret Frogs are about to make a huge splash in the DMV so scouts everywhere should be on notice.
