Coaches Box-Day 2 Standouts at Prep Girls Hoops Live

Day 1 was loaded with a lot of top performers but Day 2 did not disappoint. In the coaches box, I was able to see some great guard and post play. Knows how to use an array of moves to score inside. Can also step out if need be to shoot the short jumper. Uses her length to defend the post and box out. High motor on both ends of the court. Had a 24 point game. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="197965" first="Gracy" last="Wernli"]</strong> I 5’9 Guard I 2023 I Team Griffin 2023 Wernli makes it hard for anyone to guard her. She is always moving without the ball to create the best shot. Has a nice step-back jump shot and can shoot the 3 ball consistently. Can finish strong through contact and knows how to get to the free throw line. Plays both ends of the floor hard. <strong>Morgan Gavazzi</strong> I 5’5 Point Guard I 2024 I FBC Nightmares Teal Gavazzi is the floor general with a High IQ at point guard. Used the high ball screen well to shoot the deep 3. Also used the ball screen to hit the wide open post players. Has a nice pull up jump shot and can attack the basket well and finish in contact. Solid point guard that controls the game and gets her teammates involved. Can shoot it deep but also get to the basket. Great court vision and ball handling skills. A player to watch though out the rest of the summer. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="285593" first="Clara" last="Teigland"]</strong> I 5’9 Guard I 2023 I Nebraska Attack 2023 GUAA Teigland was a force on the offensive and defensive end. Has the ability to shoot off the screen and reads the screens well. Uses her speed to get to the basket and finish through contact. Shot the 3 ball consistently and does not need much space to get her shot off. Had a couple of high point performances this weekend. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="197969" first="Kalayia" last="Johnson"]</strong> I 5’9 Guard I 2023 I Team Griffin 2023 Johnson was relentless on both ends of the court. She knows how to get to the basket and finish through contact. Uses her size to pend the defenders deep for easy baskets. Can play inside out. Runs the floor well. A workhorse on the boards.
