We close our positional breakdowns for the class of 2022 with some of the most dominant players not only in this class but in the state as a whole. There are some excellent bigs in this group, and all of them have the ability to completely change games with their play on the interior.
[player_tooltip player_id="106153" first="Gracie" last="Merkle"], Bullitt East- Long considered one of the most physically dominating player in the state, Merkle has improved her game by leaps and bounds the last few years, making her one of the most dominant players in the state period. When she is on, she is seemingly unstoppable.
[player_tooltip player_id="106144" first="Kennedy" last="Lee"], DuPont Manual- While she has been one of the state’s best interior players for several years now, Lee has expanded her game outside as well, making her one of the more versatile players on this list. She already excels around the rim, so her outside shooting just makes Lee even more lethal than she already was.
[player_tooltip player_id="106133" first="Rachel" last="Presley"], South Laurel- A player who has put together one of the most well-rounded careers on this list, Presley has been recognized as an elite interior player for years now. She has a well-rounded game to match her well-rounded career, as her size, athleticism, scoring, rebounding, and defending are all what one would hope for from a top big.
[player_tooltip player_id="106132" first="Halle" last="Langhi"], Marshall County- Perhaps an even better volleyball player than a basketball player, Langhi possesses the ability to dominate games no matter which sport she’s playing. As her two-sport status would suggest, Langhi has high-grade athleticism, making her tough to deal with around the rim.
[player_tooltip player_id="106143" first="Anaya" last="Brown"], Lafayette- Another player with outstanding athleticism, Brown best uses her physical gifts as an elite rebounder. She has a chance to lead the state in rebounding next season and is a versatile defender to boot.
[player_tooltip player_id="106135" first="Alyssa" last="Elswick"], Shelby Valley- One of the more polished offensive games on this list belongs to Elswick. While she has the requisite size and athleticism one looks for in a post player, Elswick separates herself from the pack with a great scoring touch both around the rim and when facing up.
[player_tooltip player_id="106155" first="Anastasia" last="Dowlen"], Russellville- Dowlen’s dominance comes in regards to her rebounding and rim protection, both of which rank amongst the best in the state. She excels in these areas to such a degree that even without a polished offensive game she is still one of the best inside players in her class.
