Okay let me break it down as simple as possible, Border War 2021 was amazing for a number of reasons, first the number of talented teams from Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Nebraska, and of course Arkansas so I’m going to do a mix of Oklahoma/Arkansas since a couple of teams was split with players from both states, as well as another from Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, and Texas, all stand-alone but I’,m opening it up with a Nebraska/Arkansas mix
Kenley McCarn (Team 10 17U) 2022
McCarn does a very good job creating her shot and knocking it down from mid to long-range and she also attacks the rim and finishes strongly, after contact included. Solid defender who rebounds on both ends
[player_tooltip player_id="94502" first="Aniah" last="Wayne"]-5’9 G (Nebraska Attack 17U) 2023
Wayne does a good job of not only pushing the ball but hitting defenders with passes while doing so yet she can control the tempo and still show good court vision. She defends well and rebounds against taller opponents
[player_tooltip player_id="277763" first="Khloe" last="Lemon"]-5’8 SG (Nebraska Attack 17U) 2023
Lemon understands how to set the defender up multiple ways, first of all, she has a deceptive first step which allows her to either attack or drop the jumper, mid to long-range but she also showed she could shoot it in transition with the stop and pop
[player_tooltip player_id="277833" first="Lexi" last="Finkenbiner"]-5’9 CG (Nebraska Attack 17U) 2023
Finkenbiner is tough on the inside, she doesn't mind battling against taller players for rebounds, on either end yet she also can take the defender off the dribble with either hand and finish, with either hand
[player_tooltip player_id="277760" first="Cora" last="Olsen"]-5’8 SG (Nebraska Attack 17U) 2023
Olsen is a heady guard that plays within herself and did a good job of scoring in the flow, either off the dribble or showing she could score from outside
Madeline Moon-PF (Team 10 16U) 2023
Moon does a lot of #THROWBACK stuff that I like, more importantly, college coaches love and her hands and footwork combined with her size, her rebounding, and ability to finish strongly are great tools to have
Madeline Holt -SG (Team 10 16U) 2023
Holt gave her team a volt more than once as she's a momentum changer because her pull-up jumper with a hand in her face from anywhere on the court made me smile but she also attacks the rim strongly yet her playing the passing lane was definitely enjoyable
AJ McCandis-PG (Team 10 16U) 2023
McCandis not only has good court vision, but she also threads the needle for assists, and when you can drop it consistently from mid to long-range as well as handle the ball in traffic, that opens several things up
Ahnica Russell-Brown-5’7 PG (Unity Stars) 2024
Russell-Brown has a bright future because her upside is solid based on the simple things like creating her shot, and taking defenders off the dribble with either hand yet she also saw the floor and has a nice pull-up jumper
Je’Sani Green-6’0 F (Unity Stars) 2024
Green has a lot of upside, she has a strong frame and attacks powerfully while finishing after contact but she also showed she could drop the long ball which kind of keeps the defender honest and not overplay her
Honorable Mention
Brynlee Huggins-5’10 F (Arkansas Sting 17U)
Brooke Smith-5’11 (AAO Flight 2023) 2023
Abbey Sanders-5’8 (AAO Flight 2023) 2023
Keimauri Brown-6’0 F (Arkansas Bandits 16U) 2023
Hallie Jo Fender-5’8 PG (Arkansas Select 2023) 2023
