Class of 2024: This Is The Future

The incoming sophomore class is drenched with an abundance amount of high-level talent and versatility of every position on the floor. We are establishing an evolution of heyday hoopers within this underclassman generation that are going to be something special as high school seasons linger on. We are now checking out some in-depth analysis reports of five kids, as well as some ecstatic game highlights. Let’s get the ball rolling!   [player_tooltip player_id="246100" first="Isabel" last="Balsley"], 5’3, PG, Johnston, 2024 Isabel is a quick, talented point guard that brings bursts of energy and sparks to the court. Her athleticism is one of her main strengths, and can be utilized to the max to put up big time scoring numbers as she goes throughout her high school career. With her outside shooting capabilities; from both 3-point land and mid-range, she can also create easy opportunities for herself displaying her handle getting into the lane finishing drives, or dishing off to a fellow teammate for a two point bucket. A tenacious defender, be on the lookout when she is guarding you or is in the passing lane. With her quick hands and feet, a barrage of steals are most likely to be the result. The question here is her size at 5’3, however, that could change in years to come with maybe an additional one or two inches of height. She does a variety of things well on the court, and in my opinion, is just a high IQ player with a good feel for the game. She has a high percentage shooting in the lane finishing moves under the basket, specifically pointing out her ability to consistently finish with her left hand. She has a nice 15 foot shot in the paint, and with her sweet stroke, can also stretch the defense out and knock down 3’s. Her passing skills are good, and she knows when to get the ball to the open player. She can knock down the 3 balls possession after possession with a pure stroke. She can also get to the rim and finish on the drive. This is another kid with a solid skillset who has all the tools to be an all-around phenomenal offensive player. The height is good at 5’9, so being more aggressive on the offensive end will make her a high-level scorer in upcoming seasons. Produced some solid minutes off the bench for DCG this recent high school season as a freshman, and was a pivotal player in the rotation. I see her developing into a terrific overall player and making a name for herself on the high school scene as a DCG Mustang, and am looking forward to catching action of her soon. <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/15396428/Josie-Lampe">https://www.hudl.com/profile/15396428/Josie-Lampe</a>   [player_tooltip player_id="246156" first="Sadie" last="Maas"], 5’11, PF, Waukee, 2024 Sadie is an explosive and big-time big who will be setting the tone and stage for the Waukee varsity women’s basketball team in upcoming seasons. What I mean by that is; she is a talented player with tremendous upside and will be delivering buckets, rebounds, blocks, and steals like there’s no tomorrow throughout the next three seasons of her high school career. She is a lanky, smooth kangaroo who does damage on both ends of the floor. She can score the basketball, runs the floor, and has top notch athletic ability. What caught my eye right from the get go was her ability to block shots and rack up the rebounds. With her length and wingspan, there are not going to be many guards in the state of Iowa that are going to get a two in transition, in the half court, or pull off the And 1 against Sadie. She is such a threat down low, displaying the capability of blocking every shot coming her way while nicely timing out her jump to stuff the ball out of bounds with severe authority. Her ability to get her long arms in passing lanes reveals her high basketball IQ and savvy. She can shoot the 3 ball with a good stroke, has a great handle to finish at the rim, and thrives in the open court utilizing her electric speed. She has a high basketball IQ and has good court sense. She can create easy shots for fellow teammates dishing off some great assists (dimes) in the lane and on the fastbreak displaying some nifty vision. She is at her best getting her quick hands and feet in passing lanes and demolishing offenses by picking off the steals resulting in bucket after bucket. Another player with the question of her size at 5’4, however, that could change in upcoming years.
