There are a number of familiar faces with new uniforms. We take a look at some players that have changed travel teams this spring/summer in the classes of 2022 and 2023.
Class of 2022
Paige McDonald Paige McDonald 5'11" | SF Cocoa HS | 2022 State FL – Miami Suns (Formerly with East Coast United)
McDonald is a 5’11 wing who has made an impact with the Miami Suns NIKE Gold 17U squad. She is a very athletic perimeter player who has ability to score in bunches. Her offensive skill set is extremely intriguing combined with her build and athleticism. Look for her to continue to have success with the Miami Suns throughout the summer.
Veronica Madden – South Florida United (Formerly with Miami Suns)
Madden moved from the Miami Suns over to the newly formed South Florida United organization. The 5’4 guard had a solid Junior season for Northeast High School and has continued that into the travel season. She was solid at the Sunshine State Showdown showcasing her active play on both sides of the ball and her ability to be a solid ball handler and reliable on ball defender.
Class of 2023
Liv Fuller Liv Fuller 5'10" | SF Clearwater | 2023 State FL – FGB (Formerly with Tampa Thunder)
Fuller has been on the move over the past few travel seasons but appears to have found a home with FGB and their 17U squad. The high-flying wing/forward continues to improve her offensive skill set every time I see her. Her high motor and impressive leaping ability are worth the price of admission as she never takes a play off and is all over the court on both ends of the floor.
Ace Sturdivant Ace Sturdivant 5'10" | CG Clearwater | 2023 State FL – FGB (Formerly with Tampa Thunder)
Sturdivant is big, strong, high IQ, versatile point forward who can play 1-4. She is deceptively athletic and is a great passer with excellent court vision. She plays with a calmness to her where she doesn’t get sped up too fast and allows the game to come to her. She does a great job taking defensive rebounds and starting the fast break.
Kailani Lindsey Kailani Lindsey 6'1" | PF Wildwood | 2023 State FL – CFE (Formerly with FGB)
Lindsay is one of the state’s top post prospects. The 6’1 Wing/Forward has had impressive Freshman and Sophomore seasons for Wildwood HS and has carried that over to the travel season. Her combination of height, athletic ability, and skill level make her an extremely intriguing prospect and will likely be coveted by a number of mid major and BCS D-1 colleges.
Jordan Race Jordan Race 5'11" | SF King's Academy | 2023 State FL – Miami Suns (Formerly with BD Thunder)
Race makes the move to the Miami Suns after an impressive Sophomore season with Kings Academy. Race 5’11 build gets your attention immediately in warm-ups. She averaged over 11 points per game to go along with 31% from 3 during the high school season. With the Miami Suns, she has brought her versatility and scoring ability to the court. She has major upside and think her best basketball is still ahead of her.
