Continue ReadingWhen looking through local AAU rosters this season, there are a lot of strong programs in New Jersey and the surrounding areas that have brought in talent from the Garden State.
Among these programs is Philly Rise, part of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League network, and this roster is stacked with some of the best talent up and down the state of New Jersey.
We’re starting out with Madison St. Rose Madison St. Rose 5'10" | PG St. John Vianney | 2022 State #65 Nation NJ , one of the best players without a doubt in the state over the last several years. St. Rose helped St. John Vianney run the table this season, finishing undefeated as the best team in the state.
She’s been the horse at the top of the key guiding this team to success, a fantastic playmaker who can basically do what she wants on the court.

St. Rose is an incredible talent, one that goes under-the-radar for her recruiting class and should get significantly more attention. In clutch situations, she’s the player to rely on with the ball in her hands to make a clutch shot.
Alongside St. Rose is Hannah Hidalgo Hannah Hidalgo 5'7" | PG Paul VI | 2023 State NJ , arguably the best player in South Jersey, a dynamic guard from Paul VI. She was nothing short of dominant this season for the Eagles and made her mark on the region and in the state.
Hidalgo, while being an excellent scorer, is better on defense, an aggressive defender at that who has excellent court vision.

She’s been the engine behind the rise of Paul VI in the Olympic Conference to becoming the best team in the conference and the area, and that has everything to do with her leadership, poise and maturity.
Moving over to the bigs on this roster, Philly Rise has two excellent forwards who are committed to top D1 programs in Tennessee commit Justine Pissott Justine Pissott 6'3" | SG Red Bank Catholic | 2022 State NJ and Boston College commit Ally Carman Ally Carman 6'5" | C Red Bank Catholic | 2022 State NJ .
Pissott and Carman are teammates on Red Bank Catholic, a pair of rising seniors who have already helped the Caseys become a formidable force in the Shore Conference.
Pissott has incredible range from beyond the arc and has such a smooth shooting motion, it looks effortless watching her shoot. She looks confident and comfortable shooting the basketball, and she’ll take on any defender as she shoots from long range.

Now, looking at Carman, she’s a force on the interior, one of the best inside presences across the state. Her 6-5 frame just towers over her opponents and she’s taken advantage of the size differential, bodying up defenders in the paint, making it look incredibly easy to score.
She’s a strong interior defender with great shot-blocking ability, and that jump hook in the middle on offense is a dangerous part of her game that opponents will be dreading.

We just mentioned Zoe Brooks Zoe Brooks 5'8" | CG St. John Vianney | 2023 State NJ in a recent article as she’s been named one of 16 finalists for the USA U16 women’s national team earlier this week.
She’s been a dominant force at Trenton Catholic and will continue to rise up the recruiting boards for the Class of 2023, so keep an eye out on her to see if she represents the stars and stripes on an international level.

Mary Donnelly Mary Donnelly 5'10" | SF Manasquan | 2022 State NJ is the last name from the Garden State on this team, a dynamic guard for Manasquan who averaged 14.7 PPG and 8.5 RPG during the 2021 season, including four 20+ point performances.
Donnelly has gone under-the-radar, but she’s been one of the best players in the Shore Conference over the past two seasons, blossoming as a player to watch in 2021.

It’s going to be really exciting to see if she can turn into a walking double-double because last season showed that she’s more than capable of becoming that. She has the knack to score from virtually anywhere on the court and her defense has been stellar, a strong all-around talent.
Keep an eye out for this team moving forward because Philly Rise is on the rise and is skyrocketing to the list of elite AAU teams across the country.
