The 17U team was stacked with talent from the Garden State and local states nearby. Like it’s sister team, the 16U program is also filled with some impressive players and some notable names.
Let’s head to the tape to see which players have caught our eyes for you to check out the remainder of the AAU season and for the upcoming high school season.
The first player that jumped off the roster was Julia Corsentino Julia Corsentino 5'9" | SG Rumson-Fair Haven | 2023 State NJ , a 5-9 rising junior guard from Rumson-Fair Haven who has already solidified herself as one of the best players in the Shore Conference.

There’s a reason why Corsentino is rising up recruiting boards for many schools in the area as she’s the complete package as a guard and dominates on both sides of the ball.
Her handles rival just about anyone in the state and she’s able to use that to generate space for a kick out or for a shot of her own. She can shoot from anywhere on the floor, and that’s not an exaggeration after looking at her tape.
Corsentino has all the makings of a superstar and is going to take RFH to new heights this season.
Let’s look at another impact guard, Zoie Maffei, a rising junior out of Jackson Memorial who is as hard-nosed of a player as they come. She plays with her emotions on her sleeve and is an aggressive, but effective talent on the floor.

Maffei plays more of a guard/forward combo as she’s been a very strong defensive presence for this Team Rio team so far this AAU season. We’ve seen her as an interior presence, a strong shot-blocker and an agile perimeter defender.
She controls the game well with the ball in her hands and has extremely smooth handles. Maffei is quick to assist a teammate when she doesn’t have the clear scoring path on offense, but if it’s there, she’s attacking the rim for the tough basket.
Maffei is going to cause a lot of trouble on the floor for the remainder of this AAU season, so keep a close eye on her progression.
The last player we wanted to highlight in this article was Janie Bachmann, a 5-11 talent out of St. John Vianney, the top high school program in New Jersey. She’s very clinical with the basketball and puts herself in great positions to either score or get a scoring opportunity for her team.

One of the first things that stands out on tape is her dribble drives to the lane. Bachmann carves out a path for her to crash the lane and get her scoring opportunity. She’s also really strong on the pick and roll, playing well as an off-ball threat.
On defense, Bachmann doesn’t allow any easy baskets and very much dominates the interior when pushed into the lane.
She splits her time between the perimeter and paint, showcasing a great shot-blocking ability while being nimble and agile, disrupting the opponent’s game flow and creating a turnover off a steal.
We’ll be taking a look more at this program as the summer continues, so keep an eye out for that.
