With both 3-day events being held at the Mccormick Place, a lot of the hometown kids came through and showed out! Below are a couple of senior standouts that showed why they’re on the big stage.
[player_tooltip player_id="161014" first="Tessa" last="Towers"] | 2022 Post Scorer | Batavia
The 6’4 Post beast is everything you want your bigs to be. Her awareness under the basket is what caught my eye first. Without a power dribble or a pump fake, Tessa gets buckets down low. She scans her position before she catches the ball and easily goes up for a quick lay-in. Her footwork and patience reminds me a little of Stefanie Dolson, especially with how she doesn’t force anything to go in. Her defense followed by her rebounding turns her into a walking double-double machine almost every game. Wisconsin picked a program changer!
[player_tooltip player_id="78781" first="Kenzie" last="Hare"] | 2022 2-Way Guard| Bartlett
Kenzie definitely takes pride in her defense, but that strong effort doesn’t tire her on the offensive side of the ball. With being a lights-out shooter, and a tenacious rim attacker.. Kenzie impacts the game from start to finish. Not sure if "Allie Quigl3y" is someone she studies, but the comparisons are there! She can score around the rim with ease, she can maneuver her way around the elbow, and her 3 point bag is DEEP! The SLU commit is easily one of the best 3 point shooters in the state.
[player_tooltip player_id="124865" first="Angelina" last="Giordano"] | 2022 Lockdown Guard | Loyola Academy
Angelina’s effort and athleticism shows up in stats that aren’t always recorded. Deflections, hockey assists, and leading the offense. She’s liable to get hot and stay hot and ring off 15 points at any moment of the game. Her offensive game is patient but effective. She can drive, shoot off the dribble, and let it fly from deep when needed. For a guard, she can rebound with the best of them. She gives 100% on each possession, whether the ball touches her hands or not. Her quick hands and defensive IQ are the cherries on top. She can guard 1-4 without missing a beat. She stays disciplined while always being effective.
[player_tooltip player_id="124853" first="Tatiana" last="Thomas"] | 2022 Inside/Outside Post Playmaker| Bolingbrook
A Double-Double is just the minimum of what you’ll get from Tatiana. The recent Kent State commit consistently puts her mark on the game. Soft spoken, but her game is far from that. Defensively, she can switch through the 1-4, chase down, jump passing lanes, and rebound at a high clip. Her offensive bag is deep as well. Her passes are pinpoint. She passes with accuracy and patience. Scoring wise.. her game has no limit. Downlow? Bucket. Midrange? Bucket. Threeball? Bucket. Her footwork is a big reason why she scores with ease. She’s smooth and tough as they come.
[player_tooltip player_id="124894" first="Morgan" last="Demos"] | 2022 Post Playmaker| Benet
Many double-doubles from post players come from rebounds and points. Morgan can easily score 15 and dish out 10+ assists. Her playmaking from the elbow and down low is something to watch. Her footwork and awareness are the main reasons she’s so effective on each possession. She can play with her back to the basket, front the basket while also stretching the floor. She can facilitate from any spot on the floor. With mainly being in the post, she’s developed a way to control the pace by being able to efficiently pass out of single and double defenses.
