PGH Prairie State Slam: (16U-17U) Standouts

These girls brought high-level competition and standout performances to Mattoon, Illinois, as the Prep Girls Hoops Prairie State Slam showcased some of the region's rising talent. Throughout the weekend, several players separated themselves with a combination of skill, toughness, and advanced basketball IQ. From dynamic scorers and lockdown defenders to poised floor generals, this group of prospects proved capable of impacting winning in multiple ways while continuing to build momentum on the grassroots circuit.    Bernshausen showed maturity beyond her years while competing up against older talent for Mid Pro Academy 16U. The 2030 combo guard played with confidence and composure. She stretched the floor with a quick, high-arching jump shot off of the catch. Her constant movement without the ball and understanding of spacing created opportunities not only for herself, but for her teammates. Bernshausen also proved to be a reliable outlet when offensive sets broke down. She helped reset possessions with her shooting gravity.     Maya Tolliver brought relentless energy and versatility to the floor for IN Havok 17U. She consistently outran opposing post players in transition and made herself available in the dunker for easy finishes. Tolliver's athleticism and timing also made her effective in screening actions. She excelled as both a roller and secondary play maker. Defensively, she rotated quickly on drives and disrupted passing lanes with active hands and awareness. Her strength handling the ball after boarding gave Havok a steady presence in transition opportunities.     Haslett provided stability and control at the lead guard position. She orchestrated the offense with confidence and efficiency. She displayed exceptional ball security throughout the weekend, consistently making smart decisions and ensuring Havok got quality looks on each possession. Haslett's passing ability stood out, as she delivered accurate passes from multiple angles and situations. On the defensive end, she created problems with her anticipation and activity in passing lanes, often disrupting opposing guards looking to organize the offense.     Franklin made her impact felt on both ends of the floor with her defensive intensity and composure handling the ball. Defensively, she was a constant disruptor by using her quick reflexes and disciplined footwork to generate steals, deflections, and pressure on opposing guards. Her ability to force ball handlers toward their weak hand consistently put Kentucky Elite in advantageous situations. Offensively, Franklin's steady ball security and transition play complemented her defense-first mentality, helping turn stops into fast-break opportunities.     Kilavuz brought toughness and determination every time she stepped on the floor. The physical guard attacked downhill aggressively, earning frequent trips to the free-throw line with strong drives using either hand. Her ability to play under control in the paint by finishing off two feet. Defenders struggled to knock her off her line of attack without fouling or over helping. Kilavuz's interior scoring and physical approach allowed The Dogs 16U to establish a strong inside-out offensive flow throughout the weekend.     Neumann emerged as one of the premier prospects in attendance, showcasing a rare blend of size, skill, and defensive presence. Standing 6-foot-2 with advanced guard abilities, Neumann controlled the paint defensively by blocking shots, altering attempts, and forcing opponents into difficult decisions around the rim. Her rebounding and ability to immediately push the pace sparked transition opportunities for Havok throughout the event. Already holding multiple Division I offers, Neumann continued to strengthen her reputation as a high-level prospect with a dominant all-around performance.
