Here at Prep Girls Hoops, we’ve been talking almost exclusively about some of the best of the best programs in Central/North Jersey, but we’re here to give some love to the southern part of the Garden State.
There, we’ve seen some incredible players who deserve not only statewide, but nationwide attention. After discussing the 16U team with Team Final, we’ll be talking about the 17U-Elite squad.
Let’s take a closer look at these prospects to see what makes them stand out above the rest and what makes them players to watch this fall.
We begin talking about rising senior Amaya Burch, a 5-7 shooting guard from Timber Creek, just another Tri-County Conference connection within this program. Burch has been spectacular over the past two seasons, really coming into her own as one of the best guards in the region.
She’s easily proven that she’s a fantastic scorer and has continued to improve upon her craft on offense, an unstoppable guard with so many different facets to her game: perimeter shooting, free throw excellence, midrange and strong interior play.
Burch is a multi-dimensional guard who made headway in the summer to really turn on another gear to her incredible play on the floor, and that senior veteran leadership will shine through .
From Burch, we go to rising senior Veyoni Davis Veyoni Davis 5'8" | CG Moorestown | 2024 PA , a 5-7 point guard who transferred from Moorestown Friends to Paul VI for her junior season where she was a key piece on the best program in South Jersey.
The Eagles were the team to beat in the always-competitive Olympic Conference and without Davis’s play, they wouldn’t have been the powerhouse they turned into this season at all.
She is a fantastic defender and we saw that in a big way this summer, really forcing opponents into bad shots or turnovers. Davis is a strong finisher and an aggressive player on offense.
She plays with her heart on her sleeve, and you can see that she leaves everything out on the floor. Davis has made another move coming into the fall, moving within the Olympic Conference to Eastern, where she’ll be one of their best players going into the high school season.
The last player we’ll talk about in this article is rising senior Adriana Agosto-Flecha, a 5-7 shooting guard from Rancocas Valley and someone who posted double-figure scoring averages for the first time in her career this spring.
Her development as a player has come along in a big way, culminating in her breakout junior season where she was one of the best players in the BCSL.
This summer has been one of continued work and progress for Agosto-Flecha, and it’s paid off dividends. She’s turned into a much more complete player, focusing on her rebounding and defense.
Agosto-Flecha is an incredible perimeter shooter, and what we’ve seen so far this summer is more off-ball movement and a quicker release on her shot, making her that much more complete of a player.
We’ll be continuing to discuss Team Final’s roster and more, so continue to follow Prep Girls Hoops for more coverage.
