However, there’s still a lot of AAU players to talk about leading up to the fall season, one that is highly anticipated amongst those in the Garden State.
Let’s take a closer look at several more prospects on this roster to see what makes them stand out and what makes them exciting players to watch coming into the 2020-21 high school girls basketball season.
We begin first with a sister duo out of Randolph, Madison Jenisch and Sydney Jenisch, two of the best players on Randolph’s varsity squad in the spring and two massive pieces that will be returning in the fall.
The rising junior guards are going to be two of Randolph’s best players this upcoming season and they showed in the spring what made them must-watch prospects.
Talking about Madison first, she’s a versatile player who can feature both as a guard and forward, and she’s equally as good of a rebounder, passer and scorer.
Her balanced play features really well on this United team and not only that, but she’s a stellar defensive player and comes up big in late-game situations.
Sydney is much more of a scorer and she’s a fantastic three-point shooter, averaging over one made three a game in the spring. We’ve seen the development of her game in the summer to incorporate a large shot selection and more aggressive defense.
She’s stepped up to the challenge in a big way and is quickly morphing herself into a must-watch guard. That three-point shot is smooth and comes off her hands effortlessly.
Sydney really has the potential to shine as one of the best perimeter shooters in the NJAC this coming fall.
The last player we wanted to talk about is rising sophomore Maya Summerville, a 6-0 forward out of Morristown. She led Morristown in scoring, rebounding, blocks and assists last season, averaging well over two blocks a game.
Summerville uses her size and height to her advantage in a big way, indicated by her incredible shot-blocking ability that’s a product of her height but also her agility and hops on the floor.
She’s very mobile for a forward and while she dominates the interior, we see her much more as a stretch five who possesses similar skills to that of a guard and she can pull them out at just about any time in a game.
Her versatility on offense, complimenting her strong inside game with a great jump shot and impressive shot range, and her shut-down defense makes her an easy early-season candidate for the NJAC Player of the Year. With a full season, don’t be surprised at all if we see superstar-like numbers out of her
We’ve still got plenty more players to talk about, so stay tuned for more AAU coverage and soon-to-be high school coverage with Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey.
