We’ve been going through some of the players who have really shined in South Jersey, and we’re continuing that in this article as we’ll be talking about several who just made our current top-50 list.
The first player we’ll be talking about is forward Mia Robbins Mia Robbins 5'11" | C Eastern Regional | 2022 State NJ of Eastern, someone who has been an exciting player to watch in the Olympic Conference and just got some reinforcement with her in Veyoni Davis Veyoni Davis 5'8" | CG Moorestown | 2024 PA , who is a top-20 player on our list.
Robbins is slightly undersized as a forward and a center, which is more her traditional position, but she makes up for it as a playmaker and a defensive stalwart.
She showed a lot of evolution in her game in the spring and carried that over into the summer and what we expect will also be the fall and winter. There’s so much to like about her offensive game as Robbins commands the middle well.
To couple that with her defense just makes her stand out as one of the best forwards in the region going into this season.
Moving a bit further up the list, we land on guard Adriana Agosto Adriana Agosto 5'7" | SG Rancocas Valley | 2022 State NJ of Rancocas Valley, one of the best players in the BSCL and sure to be one of the favorites for BSCL Player of the Year this season, though she’ll have some strong competition around her.
Agosto has steadily improved her game and is now a premier shooter, easily a top perimeter shooter in the region and she’s really developed a smooth, effortless release that is next-to-impossible to guard.
The biggest thing to follow with Agosto this season is where she’s come as a defender as her offense has really shined, including this summer. She’s definitely shown great improvement and we’re expecting that well-rounded game come the fall.
Our last player we’ll be talking about in this article is guard Imene Fathi Imene Fathi 5'4" | PG Wildwood | 2022 State NJ of Wildwood, an underrated player shining bright in a tough conference in the Tri-County Conference.
Fathi will have all the attention on her this season after forward Jenna Hans graduated in the spring, but that’s only going to motivate her more to produce on the court. The opportunity ahead of her as the primary playmaker on this team is exciting and does present a challenge.
However, knowing what we’ve already seen from Fathi, a double-figure scorer who can shoot well from outside and has a great passing/defense combination, the challenge won’t be much of one for her.
We’ll be continuing our look at this most recent rankings update to close out the month of August, so stay with Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey for more coverage.
