On top of that, contributing as a freshman isn’t always easy. Some of these players are so talented that they played as eight graders. Still, it is impressive to put up numbers in your early years.

Jocelyn Gagnon Jocelyn Gagnon 5'10" | SF Somerset Prep North Lauderdale | 2024 State FL – Calvary Christian Academy
2024 Jocelyn Gagnon Jocelyn Gagnon 5'10" | SF Somerset Prep North Lauderdale | 2024 State FL could take the next step up in her sophomore season. Gagnon has impressive height (5’11) for a shooting guard. Over 22 games, she averaged 6.6 points and three rebounds per game. In addition, Gagnon knocked down 18 3-pointers. I think her offensive numbers will go up with more shooting consistency. She had some games where she shot well and others where she didn’t. On defense, her length and active play resulted in five games with three or more steals. All things point to her play going up in the fall.
Aylana Mergilles – Westminster Academy
Aylana Mergilles is another prospect that can do a lot on the court. She has the size (5’10) and quickness to play multiple positions. Having a player you can trust at guard or forward is valuable to any team. Mergilles recorded 60 rebounds and had multiple games with a block or more. Therefore, she is a factor on both ends with her length. I think her best basketball is ahead of her.
2024 Selma Drucker Selma Drucker 5'10" | PF American Heritage Delray | 2024 State FL and Khadee Hession Khadee Hession 5'10" | CG St Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State FL are two players on American Heritage – Delray with bright futures. Hession is an all-around guard with solid size at 5-foot-9. She will contribute in all five stat categories (points/assists/rebounds/steals/blocks). Specifically, Hession is quick with a solid handle to get to the rim. Leave her open on the perimeter and she will knock down shots. Hession went 20-of-54 (37 percent) from deep last season. She is the type of player you can build around. Drucker is a solid frontcourt prospect at 5-foot-9. She plays with a high motor (40 offensive rebounds) and puts herself in good position around the glass. Drucker’s offensive game is catching up and she should find more production this season.
Nandini Patel – Benjamin
There is no shortage of confidence when it comes to Patel. The 5-foot-4 guard launched 137 3-pointers at a 28 percent clip. Obviously, I would like to see that percentage tick up a bit. However, Patel had some pretty big games as a freshman. She scored 18 points against King’s Academy and 16 points against Calvary Christian Academy. Patel combined for ten 3-pointers in those games. She is also a good rebounder for her position. Patel grabbed four or more boards in nine games.
Priya Alibhai – Gulliver Prep
Alibhai is part of a Gulliver Prep team that features all underclassmen. She has good size for a shooting guard (5’10) and can shoot from anywhere on the floor. Alibhai hit multiple 3-pointers in nine of eleven contests. Moreover, she rebounds at a high clip for her position. She grabbed nine rebounds against Florida Christian and her length is a likely disturbance on defense. Would definitely like to see her shoot the ball better overall. At the very least, you have to like her frame at the spot.
