While none of them have played a minute of high school basketball yet, several have performed well with their travel teams, or were seen at the key individual events this summer where our PGH scouts were at.
Here is another group of freshmen who land on the first ranking of this class. All of the incoming freshmen are placed on the watch list until the Spring 2022 update following their first official season.
Raegan Heck Raegan Heck 5'11" | SF Margaretta | 2025 OH – Perkins
Heck is one of Northwest Ohio’s top freshmen. She made an impact in a number of different tournaments this spring/summer for her Buckeye State Blast Nexxt Level team. The long and lanky wing player can handle the ball like a point guard or play off of the ball as a legitimate scoring option. Defensively, her long arms allow her to play at the front of traps/presses – always in the middle of the action.
Lyrique Johnson Lyrique Johnson 5'8" | CG Fostoria | 2025 OH – Fostoria
Position-less player who is one of the best athletes in the gym, no matter who the opposition is. She has around touch around the rim – finishing through contact with both hands. Lyrique has a lot of untapped potential – she can be a standout HS player as she continues to come into her own.
Abby Koenig – Norwalk
Abby is an extremely active defender, who enjoys the challenge of guarding the other team’s top perimeter player night-in and night-out. She is a solid lead guard who can initiate her team’s offense and keep the tempo where it’s needed. A great 3-point shooter with her feet set, Koenig has “zone-buster” written all over her.
Kenzie Smith Kenzie Smith 5'4" | PG Norwalk | 2025 State OH – Norwalk
High motor guard with outstanding court vision. If you are open, Kenzie can get you the basketball in scoring position. She is a leader on the floor – playing hard on both ends of the court. Smith gets after it defensively, creating turnovers that turn into easy transition buckets.
Saige Foky Saige Foky 5'0" | PG Cloverleaf | 2025 OH – Cloverleaf
Although Foky is not the biggest in stature – she plays with a huge chip on her shoulder. Saige is explosive with the ball in her hands, consistently breaking down defenses. When she gets in the paint, she can score with floaters and runners or get her teammates involved after she draws the help-side defender.
