Taliah Scott Taliah Scott 5'8" | SG St. John's Country Day | 2023 State #31 Nation FL 2023 (FGB/Oakleaf High School) had a special summer and is presently ranked by many basketball sources as one of the top 10 players in the country and the top player in the state of Florida. This past summer, Scott was one of 34 athletes in the country to try out for the 2021 USA Basketball Women’s U16 National basketball team. Following tryouts, Scott had some great performances during the “live period.” Compounded with her performances, Scott’s numerous offers make her the top performer of the First Coast’s 2023 girl basketball players.
Yakiya Milton 2023 (ECU/University Christian) had a “slam dunk” summer that even surpasses her in-game dunk attempt during the “live period” in Orlando. Milton played on a talented ECU roster that included the talented Emma Risch Emma Risch 6'2" | PG Palm Bay | 2023 State #23 Nation FL and other talented players from around the State of Florida. Milton played a lot of ball on the wing during the live period in Orlando. At 6’5 Milton was applying pressure at the top of the press, shooting 3’s, and catching lob passes. Defensively, Milton did a great job of defending on the perimeter and blocking shots in the paint. She entered the ‘live period” as one of the hottest recruits in the state and exited as potentially hotter.
Sophia Rueppell Sophia Rueppell 5'9" | PG Bishop Kenny | 2023 State FL 2023 (ECU/Bishop Kenny) is one of the best shooters in the 2023 class and she showed it in during the live period. There were multiple games where Rueppell knocked down 5 or more 3s. Like most good shooters, when she is on, it’s like throwing the ball in the ocean. Rueppell showed that she is very calm player on the court and it carry overs during pressure-packed moments as well. The 2023 guard showed great leadership during the summer playing with a team loaded with talented 2022 players.
Bailey Gilmore 2023 (KA Nightmares). I only saw Gilmore for a few games in Louisville KY, but her length and athleticism just jumped off the court. She did a good job just scoring off of hustle plays in one game I observed in Louisville. She successfully defended the paint and also shut down players on the perimeter. Her play over the live period earned her a college offer and this 2023 prospect will likely see a lot more offers.
Ella Ortman Ella Ortman 5'7" | CG Providence Of Jacksonville | 2023 State FL 2023 (Triple Threat/Providence High School). I was able to watch a few games Ortman played in in Splash and National Championship and she rose to the occasion from behind the arc. That doesn’t come as a surprise since she was a the top of her division in the State in 3 point field goals just two basketball seasons ago and also averaged nearly 12 points per contest. Ortman also showed her ability to handle the rock, play defense, and pass the ball during her impressive showing in the National Championship tournament.
