With the 2021 travel season concluded and the 2021-22 school year started, the class of 2023 has been busy. Many have taken the opportunity to visit college campuses, participate in college elite camps, and played a number of games on the travel ball circuit. Here are five players in the class of 2023 that college coaches should be watching.

McKenzie is a big strong guard who can handle the rock, take her defender off the dribble and get to the rim! Her broad shoulders and solid build allow her to take contact and continue penetrating to the rim when getting bumped and finishing vs contact. She plays with a lot of confidence on the offensive end and is very aggressive looking to score at all times.
[player_tooltip player_id="243928" first="Madisyn" last="McLeod"] (Nova HS / Miami Suns) 5’9 Guard
McLeod is a big guard / wing that has excellent size for a perimeter player. She can play the 2 and 3 positions and is effective on the offensive end from the wing. She can knock down the open 3, does a good job playing off a shot fake and attacking the paint.
[player_tooltip player_id="219940" first="Jamesia" last="Prue"] (SLAM! Miami / Lady Unity) 5’10 Forward
Prue is a long, wing/forward who is versatile and can play inside and out. She is a good shooter from 15 feet who can also rip and attack the rim from the wing and driving baseline. Her length is a impactful on both ends of the floor as a scorer as well as a rebounder and shot blocker.
[player_tooltip player_id="146970" first="Sofia" last="Travieso"] (Carrolton School of the Sacred Heart / Team Knight) 5’7 Guard
Travieso is without a doubt one of the state’s top 3-point shooters shooting close to 50% from 3 each of the last two season for Carrolton School of the Sacred Heart. You simply can not leave her open and she can knock it down from anywhere on the floor once she crosses half court. Her game is not just all shooting as she is deceptively crafty going to the rim and can finish in a variety of ways.
[player_tooltip player_id="166170" first="Alonya" last="Waldon"] (Palm Bay Magnet / East Coast United) 5’5 Guard
Waldon is the floor leader for Palm Bay Magnet and East Coast United. The combo guard is a vocal perimeter player who leads by example, setting the tone with her aggressive style of play and a consistent energy and hustle. She shoots it well from 3 and has a good IQ. She does a great job setting her teammates up for easy baskets and is an extension of the coach on the floor.
