While none of them have played a minute of high school basketball yet, several have performed well with their travel teams, or were seen at the key individual events this summer where our PGH scouts were at.
Here are a group of freshman who land on the first ranking of this class. All of the incoming freshman are placed on the watch list until the Spring 2022 update following their first official season.
Kamryn Barnitz Kamryn Barnitz 5'6" | CG Fairland | 2025 State OH , 5-7 Fairland
Very impressive summer including the time I saw her play at a shootout in Southeast Ohio. She has a lot of great tools and an explosive first step to the rim. She is able to finish with either hand. Smart basketball IQ and she plays above her years. A bright future and watch for game to continue to grow. She has very good court vision and is able to utilize her passing ability to create scoring opportunities for her team.
Emma Clary Emma Clary 5'10" | SF South Gallia | 2025 State OH , 5-10 South Gallia
I wrote about her before, but she is worthy of a mention because she is truly a prospect to watch in this class. She is long and athletic with very solid moves around the basket. She is forceful on the boards and is able to lead the break with excellent court vision and a prolific lead pass. She runs the floor well and has an open ceiling. Excited to see her game continue to grow. (Feature photo above)
Elise Bender Elise Bender 6'0" | PF Anthony Wayne | 2025 State OH , 5-11 Anthony Wayne
Has a complete well-rounded offensive game, can score from the perimeter or off drives. Deceptive quickness to the basket and has the ability to split defenders on the drive. She is accurate from deep range, can catch and shoot or let it fly off the dribble. Her coach raves about her step-back shot, and she has a very good midrange game. Unselfish and makes her team better.
Brooke Bender Brooke Bender 5'11" | PF Anthony Wayne | 2025 State OH , 5-11, Anthony Wayne
She can score off the perimeter and is a matchup problem since she can score from deep guarded by the opposing post player. Good handles with either hand and can go either direction off the dribble. Can drop down and play the post or a 4 position but is comfortable to play the 3 which is likely her position at the next level. Nose for the ball, good timing and uses her position well about the basket. Good court vision, plays with her head up.
Jenna Brumbaugh Jenna Brumbaugh 5'6" | PG Milton Union | 2025 State OH , 5-6 Milton Union
Her game is solid for her age as she heads into the high school level. Multi sport kid who is athletic and possesses good guard skills. Jenna has solid handles and plays with poise for her age, still working to improve her game. She is a good passer, and plays with a good basketball IQ. Her game is unknown around the state in this class, but for Jenna it is about doing the little things to help her team compete.
