Brynn McCurry Brynn McCurry 6'1" | PF Sparta | 2023 State NJ – 6-1 PF, Sparta
Asencio isn’t the only player from United NJ’s 17U squad as her teammate, McCurry, ranks just after her in the PGH NJ updated prospect rankings for 2023. McCurry plays a completely different style as a 6-1 forward who mans the middle well and controls the game through the paint.
The all-conference and all-county forward nearly missed out on double-double averages for the second-straight season, but she did improve in a number of areas, most notably, three-point shooting and passing.
She averaged over one made three a game and added nearly one more assist a game compared to her freshman season this spring, as well as putting up two blocks a game on defense. McCurry is on a loaded roster of talent at Sparta, so she’s going to shine in a big way.
Nir Nir Cherry-Montague Nir Nir Cherry-Montague 6'6" | PF Atlantic City | 2023 State NJ – 6-4 C, Atlantic City
Cherry-Montague is one of the more unknown players in the state playing at Atlantic City in the Cape Atlantic League, but she has arguably the most raw talent of any player on this list.
Standing as a 6-4 forward, Cherry-Montague has shown glimpses of absolute dominance despite playing just two games in the spring.
Looking at her body of work, she’s a massive sleeper on this list, but Cherry-Montague is arguably the best rebounder and shot-blocker in the state, a physical freak of nature. If she’s able to see the floor for the entire season as a junior, watch out for some highlight reel moments.
Julia Corsentino Julia Corsentino 5'9" | SG Rumson-Fair Haven | 2023 State NJ – SG, Rumson Fair-Haven
Corsentino has been a mainstay at RFH for the past several seasons and has turned herself into one of the most dominant players in the Shore Conference. This summer in the AAU circuit with Team Rio has been huge for her development.
What we’ve seen during the summer is the future development of Corsentino into a scoring machine, a poised player who is a bonified playmaker and game-changer on the floor, and a heightened level of maturity you don’t see often from juniors.
She’s proven to be easily one of the best perimeter shooters in the state, so this season will be crucial when it comes to just how much more we can see her grow into a superstar on the court.
We have plenty more content coming your way coinciding with the updated 2023 prospect rankings, so continue to follow PGH NJ for more.
