As we start to wind down the summer circuit, we begin the countdown to the start of the 2021-22 Wisconsin High School season. As the season approaches it is time we start taking a look at some intriguing unsigned players in each conference. To start off the countdown to the high school season we will take a look at five unsigned players with serious ability in the Badger Conference.
[player_tooltip player_id="132374" first="Mahra" last="Wieman"] ’22 - Reedsburg High School - Coming off of a very productive junior season for her high school this combo guard enters her senior season unsigned. She was very consistent shooting the ball ending the season shooting in the mid forty percent range from three on a healthy amount of attempts every single game. When the season gets underway expect her to be one of the best players in her conference helping her team succeed in the conference and beyond.
[player_tooltip player_id="264946" first="Kylie" last="Wittnebel"] ’23 - Beaver Dam- Going into her junior season this 6’0 forward enters the 21-22 season as her school’s leading returning scorer after an exodus of three seniors from last season’s 22-3 record. As she enters her junior season she will be given much more opportunities to show what she can do.
[player_tooltip player_id="132391" first="Ashley" last="Sawicki"] ’22 - Waunakee High School - Following a season for her high school that was cut short due to covid, this 6’1 wing enters her senior season with something to prove. After only 11 games for the full season, there is obviously a small sample size to work off of for her resume in what was meant to be an important junior season. It would be fair to assume that we should be expecting the best out of her for her final high school basketball season, and make an impact on the entirety of the conference this coming season.
[player_tooltip player_id="264944" first="Maggie" last="Hartwig"] ’23 - Sauk Prairie - Entering her junior season following a season cut short due to COVID-19, this forward has the ability to make a nice leap with a handful of varsity experience. She does a great job understanding where she has an advantage over her opponent and taking advantage of it. With a team who hovered around a .500 record, she may be able to take them a little higher up in the conference standings and have some real statement performances.
[player_tooltip player_id="204148" first="Emily" last="Mortenson"] ’22 - Oregon High School - With this season coming being her senior season this guard has a lot to prove. She has the ability to change any game she plays in due to her ability to shoot the lights out at any given time with absolute confidence in her jump shot. With a team who only played ten games last season, but won, seven of them, this team behind their senior has a chance to surprise some teams in the Badger Conference.
