We intend to have a great time watching these young ladies this season and we are gonna highlight some of them in this article. Hope you enjoy these evaluations of these talented ladies.
2022, 5’11, CG, Orangewood Academy HS, Hannah Stines Hannah Stines 5'9" | SG Troy HS | 2022 State CA – Stines to me was one of the biggest stock risers this spring. Playing on both the EYBL circuit and on her high school team, Stines already has some Division 1 offers, but certainly cemented her name as a player to watch out for in SoCal. She has become very comfortable with the ball in her hands and being able to create offense off the dribble. She can use screens to free herself for jumpers and she has a solid three-point shot. She can get to the rim and can also find open teammates.
2021, 6’3, SF, Orangewood Academy HS, Aixchel Hernandez Aixchel Hernandez 6'3" | C Orangewood Academy | 2021 State CA – Aixchel is the key factor for her team, she is the player no one expects to come out and get 10-12 points and take over the game with those unexpected points. She is long and lanky, she is skilled in the paint and can rebound with the best of them, this kid can play, she makes this team go. She is decent from the midrange and can stretch you out to the three line with an occasional three pointer.
2022, 6’1, SG, Camarillo HS, Gabriela Jaquez Gabriela Jaquez 6'0" | SF Camarillo HS | 2022 State CA – Affects the game in so many ways. All-out player with the intense will to win. Even when she is not shooting well, which is rare, she finds ways to take over the game with rebounding and hustle plays. Averaged 16.5 points and 7.7 rebounds a game and had 19 points in the championship game. She recently committed to UCLA to join her brother Jaime.
2023, 5’4, CG, Corona Centennial HS, Sydni Summers – Summers has also been playing for West Coast United on the AAU circuit and is a very solid guard prospect. I first saw her play as a freshman against Windward in the Southern Section Open Division playoffs and she was a huge reason why the Huskies made the game competitive. She’s a quick guard who runs the break well and finds her open teammates. She’s strong and uses her body to get into the lane and finish over the defense. Good shooter from three-point range. Good wing defender.
