You can find most of these 2022s playing near the block, but their versatility all over the court should certainly be noted. Here are some names that stood out to me this summer.

Christian Atwater | Greensboro Lady Gaters

Atwater knows how to get things going for her team with her ability to seal off opponents on the block. She has her way in the paint constantly relocating to make sure she can be an asset for her teammates. She is aggressive when going after rebounds, and she knows how to put them right back up for some second chance opportunities.

Maddie Shannon | Lady Attack Elite

Shannon is constantly moving all over the court. Her height allows her to be effective in the paint, and her athleticism allows her to show off some ball handling moves. She can grab steals and push them up the court or use fakes to get around her opponents as she drives to the basket. She does a great job throwing off defenders even displaying a nice backdoor cut where she easily catches the pass and scores two.

[player_tooltip player_id="260170" first="Mary" last="Spry"] | Lady Attack Elite

It has been a lot of fun to see Spry’s (pictured above) game evolve so much over the past year. She is dominant in the paint not letting anyone stop her from scoring. She grabs rebounds with ease, and she knows exactly how to position her body to be the one who grabs the board. Her communication with teammates is always good to see from post players since her positioning allows her to see most of the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="207412" first="Nakyla" last="Heaggans"] | Carolina Lady Rising Stars

It’s common to see Heaggans average double-doubles with the way she gets to the basket to score and get after rebounds. She does an excellent job anticipating passes on defense finding ways to deflect the ball and grab steals for her team. She runs the floor well making sure she is pushing the ball up the court herself or ready for a pass if her teammate finds her in an open area.

[player_tooltip player_id="219869" first="Halle" last="Chaffin"] | PSB Elite

Chaffin is someone who will not be denied on her way to the basket whether she is looking for the best spot to post up and grab the pass or drive the ball herself from the top of the key. She has some nice ball moves she can use showing off her versatility, especially when she pushes the ball up the court beating multiple defenders along the way. She is very strong on the block moving her opponents where she needs to when going after a rebound.

Sydney Williams | Team Carolina

Williams can certainly read the floor well sliding into passing lanes and blocking shots from her opponents. She knows how to read shots as they come off the backboard to make sure she’s the only one who grabs the rebounds. She posts up on the block aggressively scoring efficiently, and she can handle the ball well driving to the basket.
