The class of 2022 recruiting cycle is in go mode. Players have completed their final season of travel basketball, have visited campuses unofficially, have begun setting up official visits, and are starting to make decisions as to where they will continue their academic and athletic careers. Here is an updated list of the class of 2022 players that have verbally committed – Part 2.
Nyla Harris Nyla Harris 6'2" | PF Lake Highland Prep | 2022 State #34 Nation FL (Lake Highland Prep / Central Florida Elite) – Louisville
Harris had announced a top five during the 2020-21 high school season and followed that up by announcing her verbal commitment to Louisville in January 2021. Harris is a high-level player who is one of the top post prospects in the country. She can dominate the interior game on both ends of the floor every game she plays. She is a modern-day post player because she can be extremely effective on the low block posting up and can finish with both hands but also can stretch the defense and step out to the 3-point line. She helped lead Lake Highland Prep to a state championship and a number one ranking nationally and then followed that with a good showing with Central Florida Elite this spring / summer. Look for her to try and lead Lake Highland Prep to another state championship this season before heading out to Louisville, KY to suit up for the Cardinals.
Stefanie Ingram Stefanie Ingram 5'7" | CG Lake Highland | 2022 State FL (Lake Highland Prep / Hoop Dreams Elite) – University of Central Florida
Ingram verbally committed to University of Central Florida back in the winter of 2020. Giving an early pledge to the in-state UCF Knights and securing the commitment of one of Florida’s top prospects in the class of 2022. In my opinion, Ingram is the most under rated player in the state of Florida as every time I watch her play, she is the most effective player on the court. She consistently showcases a solid all-around game playing hard and physical on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. She has a strong build, can score at the rim vs contact and has solid handle. She can play both the 1 and the 2 and consistently creates havoc on opposing defenses.
Savannah Henderson Savannah Henderson 6'1" | SF Timber Creek | 2022 State #46 Nation FL (Timber Creek / Central Florida Elite) – University of Central Florida
Henderson pledged to UCF shortly after Ingram, giving the Knights verbal commitments from two big time in state prospects. Henderson had a variety of suitors during the recruiting process, but it was widely assumed that she would in the end choose University of Central Florida. Henderson is very familiar with the Knights Head Coach, Katie Abrahamson-Henderson as it is her mom. At 6’2, Savannah is a long wing who can knock down the open shot, put the ball to the floor, finish at the rim and has an efficient floor game. She is smart with the ball in her hands, giving up the ball to open players, very rarely turning the ball over and uses her height and length to look over defenses. She has excellent court vision and a good basketball IQ – that combined with her work ethic and unselfish, make her one of the state’s most intriguing prospects with a super high ceiling.
Maddie Millar Maddie Millar 5'9" | CG Bishop Kenny | 2022 State FL (Bishop Kenny / Alabama Southern Starzz) – University of North Florida
Maddie Millar Maddie Millar 5'9" | CG Bishop Kenny | 2022 State FL has been a big piece of Bishop Kenny’s back-to-back-to-back Final Four squads and had scholarship offers, in the end she verbally committed to the University of North Florida and Head Coach Darrick Gibbs. There are numerous ties to UNF, as they were the first one to offer her a scholarship in 8th grade and her Bishop Kenny Coach Chelsea Clark just recently accepted an assistant coach for the Osprey’s. With the connection to Coach Gibbs and Clark and the opportunity to have her support system close by and to play in front of the home crowd, UNF and Millar appear to be a perfect match. Millar is a big point guard who can both score and set her teammates up. At 5’10, she can shoot over the top of defenses and finish at the rim. She shoots a high percentage from 3 and does a good job finding scoring opportunities for herself while also setting her teammates up for easy shots.
Addison Potts Addison Potts 6'0" | CG South Fort Myers | 2022 State FL (South Fort Myers HS / Tampa Thunder) – Purdue
A lot has changed over the course of Potts prep career. She verbally committed in 8th grade to the University of Missouri before ever playing a high school game. She has suited up in high school for Gateway, Bishop Verot, made a short trip to New York but returned due to COVID, Seffner Christian, and now will finish her high school career down the street from her house at South Fort Myers High School. This past month she de-committed from Missouri and several days later pledged to attend Purdue University and Head Coach Sharon Versyp. Potts is a big point guard. Her height makes her a unique player in that she is typically 2-3 inches taller than most of the players that are guarding her. She is skilled, has a high basketball IQ, and shoots a high percentage from the field. She plays unselfish, consistently giving the ball up in transition to open players and creating easy shots for her teammates, while also finding spots to score herself.
Audia Young Audia Young 5'8" | CG Florida State | 2022 State FL (Florida State University High School / Central Florida Elite) – Auburn
Young verbally committed to 1st year Head Coach Johnnie Harris and the Auburn Tigers this week via her Instagram account. Young has been one of the state’s top players for several years, helping Florida State University High School consistently be a contender for an FHSAA state championship and regularly appearing in Lakeland where the 5’9 guard from Tallahassee averaged 10.6 points and 1.8 assists per game last season. Young had multiple offers from D1 colleges from various levels all across the country but after finishing the July evaluation period, Young chose the Auburn Tigers. Young’s mother, Carolyn Jones-Young, played at Auburn from 1988-1991 helping lead the Tigers to two Final Four appearances and had her number 21 jersey retired. Audia’s father is Charlton Young who worked in various capacities for the men’s basketball team including serving as an assistant coach from 2000-2004.
Kyleish Welsh (Clearwater High School / Tampa Thunder) – NJIT
Welsh had an excellent Junior season with Clearwater High School and followed that up with a great spring / summer for Tampa Thunder. Coming off the road, Welsh verbally committed to the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). The 6’2 forward/center is long, active, and a shot blocking machine. Blocking shots is not the only thing she does well as she crashes the boards on both the offensive and defensive boards well! She has an extremely high motor and her activity level does not stop, as she competes and plays hard every possession.
