Prospects from several areas across eastern North Carolina made the trip to Wayne County to sharpen their skills against high level competition. Prep Girls Hoops NC takes a look at some of the top standouts from this event.
Jahriell Murchison (E.E. Smith 2025 guard, Carolina Force)
One of the three prospects that took part in this event despite not being in high school yet, Jahriell Murchison looked comfortable against high level competition. She was aggressive in the passing lanes defensively and attacking the basket. Murchison will be one of the top incoming freshman in Fayetteville at a really good E.E. Smith program.
Kyrah Davis Kyrah Davis 5'10" | SF Wayne Country Day | 2024 NC (Wayne Country Day 2024 guard)
Kyrah Davis Kyrah Davis 5'10" | SF Wayne Country Day | 2024 NC had a great freshman season at Goldsboro last year averaging close to 16 points per game for the Cougars. The rising sophomore had a great showing at this event knocking down perimeter shots and playing great on-ball defense against really good ball handlers. Davis will be attending Wayne Country Day next season where she’ll be a part of one of the top NCISAA 2A teams in the state.
Aquarius Pettaway (North Pitt 2022 forward, Lady Heels Elite)
2022 forward Aquarius Pettaway is looking for a late recruitment boost and she played well in front of the several JUCO and D2/D3 programs from across NC. She’s worked her way into becoming a better ball handler and outside shooter over the last few months and it showed at this event. Pettaway is a standout for a North Pitt team that’ll make another really good playoff run this season.
Madison Smith (Boo Williams 2026 forward)
Another middle school prospect that showed a lot of potential is Madison Smith, a 2026 forward from Goldsboro that’ll be one of the top players in the area when she steps on a high school floor. She created a lot of second chance points for her team and was excellent on the glass for most of the night. Smith played for an excellent Boo Williams team filled with prospects that’ll likely be seeing major college interest over the next year.
