There is still plenty of basketball to be played between now and the season's tip-off in November. Much of that will be via showcase events.

One of the regularly anticipated showcase events throughout the Carolinas is Da Future Showcase. It is hosted by Carolina Girls Hoops Report and emanates yearly from the Talbert Recreation Center in the Mooresville-Lake Norman area.

We at Prep Girls Hoops were on hand for Saturday's festivities. What is a Da Future Showcase without future stars? Many of them brought their balling shoes with them to Lake Norman.

Georgia was well-represented at this year's Da Future Showcase. White was one of the numerous Peach State prospects that was on hand by making the trek to Lake Norman. She had a breakout freshman season with 1A Division 1 Woodville-Tompkins. White played in 24 contests last season and averaged 9.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. That offensive and defensive playmaking helped Woodville-Tompkins improve its win total from four two seasons ago to 10 last season. One can see through her play why Woodville-Tompkins earned its first double-digit winning season since 2022-23 when the Wolverines went 24-6.

Fields recently concluded her 2026 club season with [program_tooltip program_id='713566' first='Lady' last='Phoenix'] at Insider Exposure Summer Slam and is looking ahead to the upcoming high school season with Winston Salem Christian. She stands at 5-foot-11 and prides herself on her versatility considering she can play either in the backcourt or the frontcourt. Defensively, she does not leave much breathing room between herself and whoever she is guarding and understands when the correct moments are to score and to pass. She is a multi-sport athlete who also plays soccer and the agility needed for that sport can translate well to the basketball court.

Last season, Gaffney made a deep playoff run to the 5A Division 2 Upper State championship game. The mix of veteran and young talent for the Indians should ensure Gaffney remains one of the toughest outs in South Carolina as it moves to the 4A realm. Smith's height gives the impression that she primarily plays at the three but her speed and rim attacking capabilities are characteristics coaches look for in point guards. Her height is complimented by her length which she utilizes with a high degree of effectiveness on both the offensive and defensive ends. Look for Smith to be one of the featured names for Gaffney over the next several seasons.

Smith is another of the 2030s that should ensure Gaffney keeps its winning ways going as it transitions back to being a 4A combatant. She previously played her middle school ball at Gaffney MS and is more than ready to showcase her skills at the high school level. Her bread and butter is more in the interior and one element of the game that she especially excels in is scoring buckets in the transition game. Smith is a multi-sport athlete who has also competed in track and field events in addition to her growing list of basketball achievements. She is fresh off an AAU season where she ran with Upstate Sting.

Harper was one of several 2030s that managed to play up in class on the 2029 [program_tooltip program_id='715954' first='Team' last='Griggs'] assembling that played on the 3SSB circuit throughout the spring and summer. Harper is poised to be a name on the rise for a Providence Day team that is already among the elite squads in North Carolina. Opposing teams have to look out for what she can get accomplished on defense as she is a consistent threat to collect steals and create additional possessions for her team. Harper is also an offensive playmaker that can give a worthwhile 3-point shooting dimension to a team's scoring attack.

Camden is set to return to the familiar 3A ranks in 2026-27 following a pair of seasons where the Bulldogs played up in the 4A ranks. Lee already has more experience than the average freshman considering she gained said experience while still attending middle school. She maintains active feet and active hands as a defender. Offensively, Lee understands the art of organizing an offense in a halfcourt set and can effectively handle the ball with either her right or her left hand. Lee played her spring and summer months of AAU ball with [program_tooltip program_id='713838' first='Lady' last='Team USC'] and one can expect her to be a key piece to another winning puzzle for coach Lewis Mungo's Bulldogs.

Hendricks fits the description of a very intriguing 2031 talent. A long-range shot is an element of her overall offensive repertoire, and she has no problems attempting shots over taller defenders. Much of this is because she has plenty of height herself. The ability to switch on who she is defending against is another one of Hendricks' strong attributes as is her willingness to keep her hands outstretched and always watch where the ball is. Hendricks also does not shy away from attempting tough shots and has no issues taking on tough defensive assignments. She more than deserves to be in the conversation of top-tier eighth graders.

Major has been steadily building a statewide profile throughout Georgia these past few years and one can expect said profile to only grow when she arrives in the high school ranks. She effectively handles the ball with either her right or her left hand and understands how to find ways around defenders. Major also maintains activity even when the ball is not in her hands and understands that ball distribution is as crucial to winning as is scoring. She will also put herself in position to corral rebounds and those can turn into two-point putbacks when she does so on the offensive end.
