The majority of messages I get after debuting an updated ranking list has to do with players who "dropped" in the rankings. Rarely players were initially rated too high and have to be put in a more accurate place. However, most of the time that a player "drops" in the rankings it has nothing at all to do with their skill level changing. It has almost everything to do with the fact that sometimes other players who would have outranked them to begin with were overlooked. In the newer versions of the rankings, players are added who weren’t even accounted for before. Hardly any players have done anything to actually be "dropped." It is because players jumped onto the radar who weren’t there previously - sometimes at very high positions. Here is a look at some of those players.
No. 21 - [player_tooltip player_id="321720" first="Laila" last="Hamilton"] | 5-8 G/F | Owasso - Hamilton is a high motor player who relishes doing the little things on the defensive end. She is ranked among the D-I players because I - and a lot of the coaches I spoke with - see her as a D-I level player.
No. 25 - [player_tooltip player_id="321721" first="Kailyn" last="Berry"] | 6-0 PF | Edmond Memorial - Not sure how we missed Kailyn the first time around, but after seeing her at the MAYB Nationals, there was no doubt that she needed to be on the rankings - actually, high up in the rankings. She is big and strong and most definitely not just an inside player. She is quick and can handle the ball and has totally earned this No. 25 ranking.
No. 29 - [player_tooltip player_id="321722" first="Jacey" last="Crawford"] | 6-2 C | Stillwater - Another player with great size who can move extremely well, Crawford is an imposing figure on both ends of the floor who is going to make Stillwater a dangerous team for the next few years.
No. 32 - [player_tooltip player_id="321723" first="Aeriyanna" last="Jones-Wilson"] | 5-8 CG | Broken Arrow - Aeriyanna is a three level scorer and with Broken Arrow under a new head coach, with a new influx of talent, Jones-Wilson should be able to really showcase her abilities and show that she deserves this ranking - or better.
No. 33 - [player_tooltip player_id="321724" first="Albony" last="Bryles"] | 5-6 PG | Westmoore - A very good scorer with the ability to stop and pop. by the way, she has a 4.0 GPA. Clearly a college level player.
No. 36 - [player_tooltip player_id="321725" first="Olivia" last="Stacy"] | 5-11 C | North Rock Creek - A small school star who is anything but small, Stacy is tough and strong and a true inside presence.
No. 54 - [player_tooltip player_id="321726" first="Cameron" last="Grossman"] | 5-11 PF | Tyrone - With 11.1 rebounds per game in 2020, Cameron is one of the top rebounders in the state. On a very, very good team, Grossman will only improve over the next two years and could see her rank improve even more.
No. 60 - [player_tooltip player_id="321727" first="Eryn" last="Dolan"] | 5-9 CG | South Coffeyville - Dolan shines through on tape as a very bouncy and athletic guard who is lightning quick and shows great handles. She scores in a variety of ways and causes a lot of problems for defenders.
No. 61 - [player_tooltip player_id="321728" first="Whitney" last="Wade"] | 5-9 CG | Marlow - Wade is a great shooter who ranked in the top-25 in the state in scoring. She is a serious offensive threat and the sky is the limit for this guard with good size.
No. 63 - [player_tooltip player_id="321729" first="Olivia" last="Littlecook"] | 5-3 PG | Frontier - Littlecook is a small in stature, small school star with the heart of a lion. I have seen Littlecook take over games on the offensive end for a very good grassroots squad. Littlecook is one to watch!
