The class of 2024 rankings were updated this week. Here are some new names that you should know.

[player_tooltip player_id="326208" first="Gracynn" last="Gough"] | Charlotte Catholic

Gough puts the power in power forward no matter who she is going against. She knows how to body someone in the paint for her points, and her arsenal of post moves makes her an effective scorer whether she making a cut or having to turn and face the basket before shooting. She is an aggressive rebounder, and she sees the floor well on defense knowing where she needs to be to prevent her opponents from scoring.

[player_tooltip player_id="326214" first="Kennedy" last="Hilsenroth"] | Northwest Cabarrus

Hilsenroth has a lot of upside. Standing at 6’1” makes it easy for her to be a force in the paint. She is certainly a shot blocker using her length to close out on opponents when they are trying to put up a shot. She makes sure to rebound the ball on both ends of the court. She knows how to position herself on offense to grab an entry pass and score.

[player_tooltip player_id="326215" first="Jessica" last="Worthey"] | Garinger

Worthey is fun to watch in the paint because she is effective posting up there and getting an entry pass, but she can also handle the ball bullying her way through the paint with ease. She doesn’t shy away from contact even scoring old fashioned three point plays along the way. She’s a terror on the offensive glass grabbing rebounds for second chances, and her power dribble from the block is difficult to defend.

[player_tooltip player_id="326371" first="Sion" last="Murrain"] | Asheboro

Murrain’s (pictured above) length certainly comes in handy when she wants to cause problems for her opponents while playing defense. She deflects passes with ease, and she certainly tracks the ball well blocking shots that can turn into steals. She runs the court well making sure she’s available to score in transition. She’s a force scoring in the paint knowing how to use her body to seal off her opponents.

[player_tooltip player_id="326372" first="Antonia" last="Hughes"] | Grace Christian

You can tell Hughes already has a high IQ because of the way she knows exactly where to be on the court. She crashes boards knowing where the ball is going to land. She seals off opponents making it easy for her teammates to send her a nice entry pass. She’s effective in a press knowing how to make her opponents go where she wants them to go leading to turnovers and another possession for Hughes’ team. She doesn’t have to be close to the basket to score, either, as she has a nice jump shot she can show off.
