Mindy McCarthy | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Kennedy Hilsenroth does a nice job in the paint getting into position and being ready to work using what the defense gives her. She uses her wide stance to seal off her defenders, and she knows how to go to work off the entry pass. She can create some of her own points, especially from offensive rebounds. She is a paint protector on the other end blocking shots and using her length to inhibit the path of her opponents.

Kennedy’s ability to own the paint has made her a very solid prospect over the last few years. She is not going to be bullied down low and does a great job of redirecting the basketball out of the paint. She is an above average rebounder and has really done a great job developing her low post game which has made her a viable option to throw the ball to when the game needs to be slowed down. She can run the pick and roll and does a great job being able to defend it as well. She is a very solid overall player that is sure to be a major key as the Lady Trojans gear up to make a run at a 3A state title.

Kennedy Hilsenroth has battled against the best of them on the block. Her wide stance and solid strength make it easy for her teammates to get the entry pass to her, and she goes to work using her post moves to score off the glass. She’s tough getting rebounds on both ends of the court, and she makes her defenders pay getting second chance points off offensive boards.

is dominant in the paint. She can grab a board, show off her footwork, and score some points. She is sure to rebound well on both ends of the court, and she flashes in and out of the paint making it difficult for opponents to keep up with her moving target. On defense, she is constantly making her opponents work against her and readjust their positioning.

Kennedy had a nice night and was very effective inside. She is a player that seems to have a nose for the ball and will do what it takes to help her team win. She was able to rebound extremely well in traffic and runs the floor very well. She has very soft hands inside and was able to finish well around the rim when need. She brings a ton of toughness every time she steps on the floor.

Kennedy Hilsenroth is great with the pick n roll timing her cuts perfectly to get the open look for a pass and bucket. She did a nice job scoring through contact battling on the block. She gets inside for rebounds, too, making sure her opponents don’t have a second chance. She hustled back on defense getting the block on a fast break.

uses her height and strength to slide in front of her opponents on their way to the basket just to block their shot. She can jump into passing lanes, too, grabbing steals, and she knows how to push it up the court for some transition offense. She is persistent when it comes to grabbing rebounds, and she uses these for points off of offensive boards. She still finds ways to sneak behind her defenders getting to the block for a pass and some points.

Hilsenroth was a new addition to North Carolina’s Prep Girls Hoops 2024 rankings prior to the start of last season. The Trojans’ standout displayed exactly why she belonged on that 2024 list. When one presents a 6-foot-1 frame as she does, it opens the door for matchup advantages in the low post. She compliments her scoring capabilities by what she accomplishes not only as a rebounder but also as a shot blocker. Among those rebounds that Hilsenroth can haul in are on the offensive glass and she will turn those into two-point putbacks. She also has ran track and field throughout her athletic career. Hilsenroth played a major role in Northwest’s 17-6 record (10-4 conference) last season.
