Flight Hankamp: An Open Run was a fun night of basketball, giving the players a chance to play against a high level of competition and play with or against players that they may have never seen before. There were a lot of players at the event that looked like they have improved their games a lot over the course of the last few months or year. Let’s look at a few of those improved players.
[player_tooltip player_id="230797" first="Sydney" last="Brown"]
I’ve always liked what Brown brought to the table defensively. She’s added to her game. I see a new sense of leadership and confidence that will help her immensely.
[player_tooltip player_id="230786" first="Bridget" last="Crombie"]
It's well known that Crombie is a tough player that plays bigger than her height. Really, we all know what she can do close to the rim. I was impressed at Flight Hankamp, with her ability to handle the ball and play on the perimeter.
[player_tooltip player_id="244299" first="Alexus" last="Dunn"]
Dunn has always been a confident shooter, but she continues to gain consistency in that area. I’d look for her scoring numbers to rise again this winter. Dunn also looked like a better ball handler at Flight Hankamp.
[player_tooltip player_id="230784" first="Elyssa" last="Kincaid"]
Every coach needs an [player_tooltip player_id="230784" first="Elyssa" last="Kincaid"]. She plays bigger than her height and is more than willing to Battle in the paint, both offensively and defensively. Kincaid continues to get better at rebounding in traffic and expanding her game to the perimeter.
[player_tooltip player_id="189297" first="Aaliyah" last="Morehouse"]
Morehouse is really a different player than she was in high school season. She seems to have figured out how to play off her strengths and that’s going to make her much more of an offensive threat this coming season.
[player_tooltip player_id="244277" first="Jordan" last="Peterson"]
Peterson came in with a well deserved reputation as a leader and a rebounder. While she showed those things at Flight Hankamp, she showed a lot more as well. Peterson was able to create offensively off quick 2 dribble drives and appeared to have improved as an overall athlete.
[player_tooltip player_id="227584" first="Lizzy" last="Scharer"]
Scharer has seen her perceived ceiling continue to rise all summer. Well, it looks like that trend will continue into the fall. Scharer's perimeter defense was eye opening at Flight Hankamp and she's added some playmaking to her game as well.
