The conference that we will be looking at now is the Big East Conference, specifically its south division. The past two seasons the Big East has had a two-division system Oosterburg has taken the division both times, but they’re sure to have challengers this season.
Gabby Klas Gabby Klas 5'10" | CG Ozaukee | 2022 State WI -5’10 CG-’22 Ozaukee: There is no better place to start than with the leading scorer in the South division, in Gabby Klas Gabby Klas 5'10" | CG Ozaukee | 2022 State WI . This guard last season took a big leap in the scoring department going from around 11 per game her sophomore year all the way to 18.7 last season. With her ability to score with both hands in the paint and the ability to knock down perimeter shots with ease this may be the best player in the conference this season. Any player who takes a leap like that involves is one who shows the will to want to get better and it wouldn’t be surprising to see her take another leap to finish out her high school career.
Rose Hahn-5’8 G-’22-Sheboygan Area Lutheran: Last season was a solid season with serious flashes for Hahn. When she was hitting shots she was as good as anyone in the division. Her main issue was her consistency, she had some of the highest of highs and lowest of lows, this is all based on standards that she sets with some of the games she plays. If she can dial up a season where she can consistently find ways to score and keep at it she can have a lot to say when it comes to who wins not just the South division but the conference as well.
Caitlyn Weyker-G-’24-Ozaukee: Following a freshman campaign where she did a little bit of everything for Ozaukee this guard has an opportunity to take another step this coming season. She has supreme confidence in her ability and the place to point to in order to exemplify this is her free throw attempts last season. In the division overall, she took the 3rd most attempts at the line, which shows a desire to get into the paint and force her way to the line. This also shows the trust from teammates and coaches in her to make plays with the ball in her hands. She also possesses a simple jump shot that is extremely fluid and all told she has a nice foundation to get better off of.
Ashley Ternes-5’10 G-’23-Oosterburg: Last season’s leading returning scorer will have a massive uptick in opportunities with Kelsie Dulmes and Ellen Ten Pas graduating last spring. With the tradition that Oosterbug has built these past few seasons, it wouldn’t be shocking to see this guard take a leap and keep Oosterburg competing within the conference.
