This conference has some of the best players in the best state and they’re always getting better. This season has the potential to be special in this conference with upper and lower-classmen alike potentially being big-time players this coming season.
Mya Nicholson Mya Nicholson 5'10" | SG Janesville Craig | 2024 State WI -5’10 CG-’24-Janesville Craig: One of the many talented underclassmen in the Big Eight is Mya Nicholson Mya Nicholson 5'10" | SG Janesville Craig | 2024 State WI . Following an impressive freshman campaign, Nicholson is primed to have an even better sophomore season. With an impressive multi-level offensive game she has the ability to do some real damage in the conference next season and jump onto radars of coaches at the next level. She is a selfless teammate with the ability to score and get her teammates involved. This coming season is one where she needs to begin to refine her game a little bit in order to get to that next level. She’s extremely talented and very young, once she understands the high school game better she will continue to improve and is definitely one to keep an eye on next season when schools really come looking at her game.
Reagan Briggs Reagan Briggs 5'9" | SG Verona | 2024 State WI -5’9 G-’24-Verona: Briggs is yer another underclassman who has an extremely high ceiling. She is kind of a mix of the old and new school. She has a prototypical point guard mindset when she has the ball in her hand and takes serious joy in setting up her teammates for easy looks. She also has the new school mentality whereas as a lead guard she has the ability to create shots for herself. Not only can she create them at a high level, but she also can make them with relative ease. Another thing that jumps out and should be noted about Briggs is how much she obviously loves playing the game, she plays with a smile in most clips you find of her. She is someone who has an obvious passion for the game and anyone who watches her play should find that endearing.
Antionique Auston Antionique Auston 5'8" | CG Sun Prarie | 2023 State WI -5’9 G-’23-Sun Prairie: Getting to the first upperclassmen of the list Auston not only has a high level of skill, but the most impressive thing about her is her poise. She can be on a fast break with three defenders on her hip and she plays like it’s just her in the gym. She also has a jumper that is as pretty as they come with a high release and is mechanically sound. At this level, she has just had an answer to any defense that has thrown her way. She will probably be one of the best of the best players in the state and if she helps Sun Prairie advance in the state tournament it will be fun to see her matchup with other division 1 schools in the state.
Ellie Magestro-Kennedy-5’7 G-’23-Janesville Craig: One of the best three-level scorers I have seen going through players in Wisconsin. It’s pretty simple with her she can flat out score if you give her any space, and my personal favorite thing about her game is her ability to fill multiple roles. She can play as a wing where she can space and cut, she can run pick and riles well and can score or set up her teammates of it. It’s pretty fun to watch her because she creates chaos for defenses and just destroys what they set up. Her pairing with My Nicholson these next few years has all the potential to be one of the best in the state and with it, they have the potential to make noise beyond the Big Eight this season.
