Which South Florida prospect will lead the area in rebounds. Talented 2021’s [player_tooltip player_id="145092" first="Tatyana" last="Wyche"], [player_tooltip player_id="91549" first="Taliyah" last="Wyche"], [player_tooltip player_id="244126" first="Emmy" last="Mills"], [player_tooltip player_id="244146" first="Khaliyah" last="Simms"], Cassidy Lowe, [player_tooltip player_id="244149" first="Alyanna" last="McGrath"], [player_tooltip player_id="91539" first="Kayla" last="Clark"], and [player_tooltip player_id="244140" first="Aaliyah" last="Reid"] are gone. All of those players finished in the top 27 in rebounding in Florida. That is a heavy amount of talent on the glass to replace!
Who will move into the fold this season?
[player_tooltip player_id="151282" first="Alancia" last="Ramsey"] - St. Thomas Aquinas
As I stated in my scoring article, Ramsey is one of the more dominant post players we have in South Florida. The 6-foot-1 forward averaged 13.1 rebounds per game playing for American Heritage - Delray. With the Stallions, Ramsey grabbed nine or more boards in 12 of 14 contests. Furthermore, 75 of her 184 boards came on the offensive end. Ramsey’s numbers will stay the same or get better with St. Thomas Aquinas.
[player_tooltip player_id="243975" first="Vanessa" last="Richard"] - Atlantic
Again, 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="243975" first="Vanessa" last="Richard"] is going to there as a scorer and rebounder. The 5-foot-11 power forward grabbed 11.6 boards per game for the Eagles. Moreover, Richards collected 12 or more boards in 9 of 14 contests. She averaged ten boards per game as a sophomore so this is nothing new for her.
[player_tooltip player_id="219938" first="Taylor" last="Blackshear"] - Benjamin
Yes, many of these name appear on multiple lists. Count 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="219938" first="Taylor" last="Blackshear"] as another. Unlike the others, she is a 5-foot-7 guard that grabbed over 11 rebounds per game for the Lady Bucs. Blackshear is very athletic which allows her to have so much success on the glass. 88 of her 109 rebounds came on the offensive side. I mean... she had a 19 rebound game as a sophomore. To show that kind of effort against any competition is impressive. Blackshear can play, period.
Ashley Hendricks - Berean Christian
2024 Ashley Hendricks is an impressive prospect over in West Palm Beach. Hendricks grabbed 10.7 rebounds per game while helping Berean Christian to a 13-4 record. She also averaged 11.4 points, 3.8 steals and 2.4 blocks per game. Her future appears to be bright.
[player_tooltip player_id="145087" first="Checorey" last="Bouie"] - Cardinal Newman
2023 [player_tooltip player_id="145087" first="Checorey" last="Bouie"] is an athletic forward with length for the Crusaders. The 5-foot-8 Bouie averaged 10.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore. Against Palm Beach Central, Bouie grabbed 20 (12 offensive) alone. She’s a nice defensive player all-around that will create steals and block shots on occasion.
Catalina Agudelo - Terra Environmental
2022 Catalina Agudelo is a great rebounder given she’s about 5-foot-8. The power forward/center averaged 10.5 rebounds per game for Terra Environmental. In fact, Agudelo increased her average by more than six boards from her sophomore season. While I don't see a ton of scoring, Agudelo sure holds her own on the glass.
Neyida Michel - Dr. Krop
Even with [player_tooltip player_id="244126" first="Emmy" last="Mills"], Michel managed to grab 10.3 rebounds per game of her own. What might be more impressive is she’s a guard. The 5-foot-7 Michel collected ten or more boards in eleven games. Moreover, she had four 16 rebound efforts. Her work and athleticism around the glass is impressive coming from the backcourt.
Mo'Nique Joseph - The King's Academy
Joseph was a huge asset for a King's Academy team that won 20 games. The 6-foot power forward/center averaged a double-double of 10.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. She's extremely reliable on the defensive side of the floor with her size and positioning. Joseph grabbed ten or more rebounds in 13 of 23 games. Look for more of the same in 2021.
