Scouting Report: Space Coast Fury 2022 By Michael Wholey 9/9/21 1:00 PM EST The 2021 travel season has come to an end and we are looking back at some of the state’s top performing teams and breakdown their roster. This week it is the Space Coast Fury 2022 squad.   <a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/09/Marissa-Cloud-crop-909x597-1631203119-e1631203152503.png"><img class=" wp-image-324758 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/09/Marissa-Cloud-crop-909x597-1631203119-e1631203152503-263x300.png" alt="" width="195" height="222" /></a>2023 [player_tooltip player_id="247202" first="Marissa" last="Cloud"] – 5’4 Point Guard (Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy) Cloud is a mentally tough point guard who is at her best playing an up-tempo game and attacking in transition. She has great court vision and does a good job creating easy shots for her teammates and gives the basketball up for scoring opportunities leading them to the hoop. Running the PG position all spring/summer, she had a great assist to turnover ratio for her Space Coast Fury squad and has a high basketball IQ and is an extension of the coach on the court. Not just a distributing point guard Cloud can finish with either hand at the rim, has a solid mid-range shooter, and can knock down the open 3-pointer. Defensively, she is both a strong on ball and help side defender.   <img class=" wp-image-324761 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/09/Lindsey-Angermeier-e1631203285296-248x300.png" alt="" width="198" height="240" />2023 Lindsey Angermeier - 6’1 Forward (Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy) Lindsey was a force on the inside for Space Coast all spring/summer as a tough, inside/out post. She is a strong presence in the paint with the ability to both play with her back to the basket and can also turn and play face up to the rim. She has range out to 15 feet, runs the floor looking for easy baskets in transition and has excellent passing skills for a post player. Defensively, she is a strong interior defender and rebounder, who plays tough and physical and is an improved perimeter defense, increasing her versatility.   <img class=" wp-image-324763 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/09/Gwen-Miller-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="217" height="217" />2023 [player_tooltip player_id="247201" first="Gwen" last="Miller"] - 5’9 Combo Guard (St. Lucie West Centennial High School) Gwen is a 5’9 combo guard who can play both the point guard and the shooting guard position. Offensively, she is a threat from the deep, knocking down open 3’s at a high percentage all spring summer. Not just a shooter, she also has the ability to attack the rim off the bounce. One of her biggest strong suits, is moving without the basketball, getting open on the wing and helping space the floor, consistently being an offensive threat. Defensively, she is a capable ball handler, who plays tough and is a good rebounder from the guard position.   <img class=" wp-image-324765 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/09/Erin-Hayslip-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="252" height="252" />2023 Erin Hayslip – 5’4 Combo Guard (Satellite High School) Erin is a pesky, combo guard who has a high motor and plays with a ton of energy. She does not take a play off, competing every possession on both ends of the floor non-stop from jump ball to the final buzzer. She does a great job picking up the opposing teams point guard from baseline to baseline, making it difficult for them to advance the ball up the court. Her defensive presence is consistent, so much so it is not uncommon to see the other team have to game plan around her. Her ball handling and court vision is much improved and combined with her offensive skill, she has a very well-rounded overall game. Offensively her mid-range is her strength, she is capable of finishing at the rim, and is a capable 3-point shooter. In addition, she is a great teammate and mentally strong!   <img class=" wp-image-324766 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/09/Ana-Smith-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="162" height="162" />2022 Ana Smith – 5’9 Wing / Forward (Merritt Island Christian) Ana is a versatile wing / forward who is capable of playing defense on both the perimeter and in the post. She is a hard-nosed, tough player who is not afraid of contact. She is a solid and scrappy rebounder on both offense and defense. She does a great job proving a spark for her team, bringing energy, hustle, effort and passion on both ends of the court and brings a ton of intangibles that are invaluable.   We will look to continue to cover news across the state.
