The second full week of April is one to look back on the weekend it was – and one to look ahead to the upcoming weekend as it is the first live period of the 2026 grassroots calendar.

As far as the weekend it was is concerned, said weekend included a grand total of seven events that took place around the country as part of the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. That septet of events included this year's Roll Tide Rumble which once again emanated from Guntersville – home to this past season's 5A state champion Wildcats.

We at Prep Girls Hoops were also on hand for the weekend's festivities. After unveiling our 17U First Team, we turn our attention to those names that made our 17U Second Team.

One would be hard-pressed to find a team in attendance this past weekend at Roll Tide Rumble that impressed more than WT Elite 17U did. The Florida-based travel team won all four of its contests by double-digit points in large part because of her play. Martins may be listed as a forward but she possesses the floor-running abilities and ball-handling skills of a point guard. At an even six feet, that gives her a noteworthy height advantage over a number of her peer threes and fours. Martins is one of the premier sophomore talents in the Sunshine State and she more than proved in Alabama that she belongs on the same court with more experienced competition.

Speaking of Florida-based travel teams, Premier Girls Basketball 17U utilized superb backcourt play to ensure it returned to the Sunshine State without a blemish during its Alabama getaway. Andrulonis is a multi-sport athlete who also has played flag football as a wide receiver and defensive back. As someone who can operate either in the frontcourt as a small forward or the backcourt as a shooting guard, Andrulonis will find plenty of time at the wing. Andrulonis understands the art of utilizing her defense to set up an offense. She is a consistent playmaker and that will earn her plenty of attention from defenses. She played in 26 games last season for 6A Horizon and averaged 6.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per contest.

Dumas is another that fits the description of a multi-sport athlete. She too, like her Premier Girls Basketball 17U teammate also plays both offense and defense on the flag football team at 7A Oak Ridge. Dumas was part of a Pioneers team that finished with a strong 20-7 mark last season. She understands how to take advantage of her height to convert on high-percentage buckets. Rebounding is another of Dumas' strong areas and she knows how a team's defensive efforts can be bolstered by keeping her arms outstretched to take advantage of her length. She played in 26 games this past season at Oak Ridge and averaged seven points, six rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.

The timeless adage “it's not how one starts but how one finishes” certainly applies to McCulley and her [program_tooltip program_id='713704' first='Alabama' last='Elite'] 17U assembling. The team began its Roll Tide Rumble weekend with a 21-point defeat to WT Elite 17U before reeling off three consecutive wins. An accurate 3-point shooter, McCulley showcased exactly why she earned offers from schools such as Calhoun and Crowley's Ridge. She gets the value of keeping one's hands outstretched on defense, is an efficient runner of the floor and can attack the basket from either her right or left side around a defender or defenders. McCulley played for a 6A Buckhorn team that finished 20-11 last season.

Arriving in Alabama from neighboring Mississippi, YAG Ballers 17U was one of the tougher outs of this past weekend. Lowery's play ensured that her team would finish 3-1 over the weekend – and the one loss, which was on Sunday to [program_tooltip program_id='713704' first='Alabama' last='Elite'] 17U, was only by double digits. A key name for 5A Columbus, she displays her fearlessness and confidence with her willingness to attack and shoot the rock over taller defenders. She gets how to block shots as a defender and understands how to take advantage of even the slightest ball-handling miscue by an opponent. Hustling for loose balls and the ability to finish at the rim with either hand are other strong attributes to Lowery's well-developed game.
