The Freshman class was well-represented Saturday at the Third Annual Prep Girls Hoops Indiana Top-250 Expo. There were several girls we were familiar with, a number of new prospects to note as well, but all-in-all the 2025 class came out in droves this past weekend, and they held their own throughout the event. Below is a look at eight Freshmen who played well when I was able to see their teams play Saturday.

– Addison clearly displayed as much ball skill as anyone at the event Saturday, with her ability to handle it right and left equally well, change directions in tight spaces, and get downhill and score around the basket. She also shot it consistently from the perimeter. At 5-8 and still growing, she has the chance to be one of the top players in Indiana’s 2025 class for years to come, especially once she gets stronger.

– Hylton is quickly becoming one of my favorites to watch in this class, because all she does is play hard, compete, and produce each time out. She is tough-nosed and gritty, but she also plays with skill and an understanding of the game. She can handle it a little like a point forward, she can knock down the occasional perimeter jumper, plus she’s able to get downhill and absorb contact on her way to the basket.
Rielyn Goodwin

– Rielyn is one of two kids in this group who was new to me on Saturday. She isn’t very big, but she’s a quick/fast water-bug type of point guard. She played with a great motor, but she also understood how to change speeds and get into gaps in the defense. I don’t know that she necessarily did any one thing at an elite level, but she was just a nice, confident, skillful ballplayer who was fun to watch.

– I’ve seen Ayla a number of times over the last couple of Summers, and this was one of the better days I’ve personally seen her have. She was aggressive in transition, solid with the ball, and she was very active. She has a solid, athletic frame, she can play in the mid-post or around the perimeter comfortably, and she is constantly in the gym working on her perimeter skill. She can also defend multiple positions.
Jersey Paul

Carroll (Fort Wayne) | 2025
State

, 2025, 5-5 G, Carroll H.S. (Fort Wayne)
– Jersey does at least one thing as well as anyone in this 2025 class, and that’s shoot the ball from the perimeter. She is a fairly strong-for-her-age guard, and she’s a nice North/South athlete, but her ability to shoot it with deep range really separates her from a lot of the guards in this class. She also possesses a good basketball IQ, a solid handle, and she plays with a motor. She can help FW Carroll immediately.
Ellie Richardson

, 2025, 5-7 G, Scottsburg H.S.
– Every time I looked at Ellie’s court, she was in constant motion, always around the ball, and playing with an outstanding motor and toughness. Ellie has an athletic frame, solid length, and she’s another nice, North/South athlete. She has good ball skills and can run offense in the half-court. She can attack the basket and finish through contact as well, plus she can play off the ball and knock down shots.
Natalie Robinson

Marquette Catholic | 2025

, 2025, 5-10 F, Marquette Catholic H.S.
– Natalie is the other prospect on this list I was seeing for the first time Saturday. She is definitely intriguing, and she’s one of those wait-and-see kids, because I’m not sure she’s done growing yet, plus she’ll likely put on some muscle at some point. Natalie is extremely long, wiry, and somewhat bouncy. She played some in the mid-post and short-corners, but she also attacked off the bounce from the perimeter.
Isabelle Shepherd

Carmel | 2025

, 2025, 5-6 G, Carmel H.S.
– Isabelle is in a strong Freshman class at Carmel, and she drew a lot of compliments with her play Saturday. I overheard one parent commenting that she played more maturely than a Freshman. She has an athletic frame, the famed Shepherd genetics, and she plays with an outstanding motor. She’s a combo guard who is just a nice ballplayer…she can handle it some, knock down shots, and she defends hard.
