Lets take a look at some of the players that will be called upon to play major roles for their teams this upcoming season.
Terrika Gibson I 5’7 I SG I 2022 I Statesboro
Gibson was a force to be reckoned with this past season. Great facilitator that knows how to make the right reads on offense and defense. She will be called upon to lead a strong Statesboro team this upcoming season. She has the ability to score at all 3 levels. Knows how to move well without the basketball and will be called upon to handle the ball more this season. Also pressures up and gets out in the passing lanes. Looking for Gibson to have a breakout senior season for the Lady Blue Devils.
Shamya Flanders I 5’11 I SF I 2023 I Brunswick
Flanders has all the intangibles to be one of the best post players in the state. Athletic post player that can jump out the gym and score through contact. High IQ player that takes what the defense gives her. With her and Jackson in the post, they will make it hard for their opponents to score inside. Flanders was 1st Team All Region last season.
Paris Smith I 5’10 I SF I 2022 I Glynn Academy
Smith will be a game changer for the Lady Terrors as she will be called upon to be one of the leading post players on the team. Has guard skills which allow her to step out and shoot the short jump shot. Also has the ability to put it on the floor and attack the basket. Second Team all region a year ago. Smith is looking to build upon her junior season and help the Lady Terrors compete for a playoff spot.
Makiya Matthews I 5’5 I 2024 I Richmond Hill
Matthews is the floor general for her team. The Lady Wildcats will be looking for her to play significant minutes at point guard this season. High IQ guard that sees the floor well and helps to get her teammates in the right spots. Handles the basketball well under pressure and can score at different spots on the court.
Kaliyah Tillman I 5’7 I 2023 I Bradwell
Tillman joins a loaded backcourt for the the Tigers. She has the ability to slash through defenses and and finish through contact. Can pressure the basketball 94ft and brings the energy. She will be looking to build upon on her sophomore season in hopes to get the Lady Tigers back into the playoffs.
