Walking into the gym it was clear that there was a lot of talent in the building. The amount of skilled players in both gyms had my interests divided. With all that said here are some players that stood out during the day.
Bailey Harris – 5’10″ – Combo Guard – Team Maryland – 2026
Bailey was clearly the best player in the building. She faced full court triple teams for the most part of the game still dropping 19 of her teams 25 points against Team Takeover. She is deadly accurate from all over the court has good size and can attack the basket well and finish. She had high school coaches in awe watching her play while making a case for the #1 player in the class.
Ariana Makumi – 5’10″ – Wing/Forward – Baltimore Poly – 2024
Showed a high motor and the willingness to out work her opponent on both ends. She came up big in the game with back to back and one putbacks off the offensive rebound. She has a good looking form on her shot and is a solid free throw shooter.
Ja’la Bannerman – 5’8″ – Combo Guard – St. Frances Academy – 2022
Ja’la’s first step was a blur as she consistently blew past her initial defender. She showed the ability to knock down the three ball and get to the line. She will continue to meet help defenders and her game will progress as she masters her counter moves on the second level.
Kameryn Dorsey Kameryn Dorsey 5'7" | PG St. Frances Academy | 2023 State MD – 5’6″ – Point Guard – St. Frances Academy – 2023
A solid point guard with really good vision. Kameryn showed off a nice handle and the ability to run the team and get her teammates involved. She handles pressure really well and attacks with her head up still able to see the floor and make plays on the move.
Hawa Doumbowya – 6’6″ – Post – Mount Carmel – 2023
Hawa continues to improve each time we see her. She has soft hands and passes well the cutter out of the high post. She has pretty good footwork and pushes herself to run the floor hard when required. Many time kids her size are pushed into the sport but she shows the desire to really want to play and get back into the game when subbed out. Looks closer to 6’6″ than her listed 6’4″.
Maya Woodson Maya Woodson 5'11" | SF Reservior | 2023 State MD – 5’11″ – Wing/Forward – Reservior – 2023
Maya is a good rebounder and has excellent leadership skills. She was like a coach and mentor to a lot of the younger players on the court and on the bench. She posts up strong showing her numbers but can also face up and attack off the dribble.
