There is no doubt that big-time players show up and make plays. However, there are always players that don’t get the recognition. I want to put the state on notice. We will look at playmakers who will make some noise this winter. These young ladies have competed on various stages and have done a phenomenal job making plays.
[player_tooltip player_id="157709" first="Paige" last="Kohler"] 5’6, PG, 2023, Olmstead Falls High School
Kohler is a poised player. With her ability to play fast or slow it down, Paige manages to always stay under control. A coach’s dream is to have a player with the ability to have excellent floor presence and control over the pace of the game, and that is exactly what Paige is capable of. Paige can find any open play, which gives her the skill to attack the basket. She plays outstanding defense, always staying low, and Paige’s anticipation is incredible. Kohler has a very good basketball IQ and passion.
Dekota Smith 5’7, 2023, Notre Dame Academy High School
Smith is considered the best on-ball defender in that state. She has a great finisher, she’s tough, and she also knows how to find her teammates when she attempts to the rim. She is currently working on managing a consistent 3-pointer. Smith can bang with the best of them and is a kid with a superior work ethic.
[player_tooltip player_id="269380" first="Abby" last="Liber"] 5’11, 2022, Avon High School
Liber has several D-1 offers. With her amazing ability to handle the ball, she can shoot the three-ball with consistency. Abby also can defend all positions on the floor. She does a good job communicating with her teammates.
[player_tooltip player_id="313107" first="Aleeona" last="Robinson"] 5’6, 2023, Lutheran East High School
Robinson is a strong guard that can create her shot. She has a creative way of shifting her defenders making it hard for them to stay in front. Her development in the use of her off-hand will make her a bigger threat. Robinson does a good job scoring from behind the perimeter and getting to the basket.
Natiah Nelson 5’10, 2024, Rodgers High School
Nelson has a few D-1 offers and it is no surprise. She has great size and length that is a nightmare for others. Development in her motor will advance her game. Nelson in transition is a guard that will score or draw the foul leading to easy points. Her mid-range game is good and she has a killer instinct. I don’t know too many players with the crossover that she does keep your eyes on her all year.
