The 2022 class is deep in Arkansas. We have several players that are unsigned but still have the talent and ability to play at the next level. This article is giving some love to some talented players in the 4A classification that are graduating this year but are returning after being selected to All-State last year. I’m looking for these players to have an impactful year for their team. Here are some of the best players in the class of 2022.
[player_tooltip player_id="305929" first="Sidney" last="Townsend"] | Forward | Nashville High School
Sidney does a good job finishing in transition. She can rebound in traffic and push it herself. She has good vision in the open court and can make on-target passes in transition. In the half-court, she can knock down the open catch and shoot three-pointer. Sidney can also post up. When on the low block she displays patience and can make the pass out of the post to her open teammate when the defense collapses. Defensively she’s going to apply physical pressure to the ball handler and be active in the passing lanes.
[player_tooltip player_id="305931" first="Estella" last="Gadberry"] | PG | Pulaski Academy High School
Estella is a solid point guard for her high school team. She shows patience and poise while keeping the team organized on offense. She’s an unselfish player that likes to get others involved. Estella can finish in transition, anticipates on defense, and plays hard on both ends of the floor. She can also make the open three-pointer.
[player_tooltip player_id="305932" first="Riley" last="Smith"] | Wing | Pulaski Academy High School
Riley is a wing player that you want to always keep track of while on the court. She is a shooter. And if you leave her open she will knock down shot after shot. Riley also has good vision in the open court. She can push it in transition and make the correct play with her pass. Defensively she can apply on-ball pressure and get in the passing lanes for deflections and steals.
[player_tooltip player_id="305933" first="Olivia" last="Allen"] | CG | Southside Batesville High School
Olivia applies really good on-ball pressure. She’s able to keep the player she’s defending out of the lane off the dribble. Offensively, she handles the ball well vs pressure and doesn’t allow the defender to rush her or make her panic. When being pressured in the half-court or full-court Olivia can change speeds and directions to shift her defender. This allows her to get to the rim and finish.
[player_tooltip player_id="305934" first="Brett" last="Gardner"] | PG | Southside Batesville High School
I’ve talked about Brett in a previous article that you can read HERE. She is one of the most solid point guards that you will see play this year. She’s very effective off the bounce. She changes speeds and direction to get her defender off balance for drives to the rim. Brett can pull up and shoot the three off the dribble or turn the corner off the pick and roll to make a play. She also has the vision to make plays for other players.
[player_tooltip player_id="305930" first="Lindsey" last="Aday"] | Wing | Pottsville High School
Lindsey is a player that is going to play hard and do all the little things to make her successful. She’s going to box out to keep her opponent from getting offensive rebounds, give multiple effort on plays, and hustle after 50/50 balls. When Lindsey catches the ball on the wing she will strong to the basket. She can also work out of the high post and make plays for her teammates.
[player_tooltip player_id="306783" first="Kae’la" last="Mitchell"] | CG | Estem Public Charter High School
I had a hard time finding film of Kae’la’s high school games. So I had to do an evaluation from some highlights I found of her. She’s an athletic guard that loves to get out in the open court and use her speed to get to the rim. She can change directions with ease as she would blow by defenders to get to the rim to finish in a variety of ways. She can make the three off the dribble or by spotting up. She also got others involved when penetrating in the half-court and making on-target passes when other defenders would rotate to stop her penetration.
