The Fall Exclusive is officially underway and there were some impressive performances on day one. These showcases, where you get put on a random team, seems to be on a upward trend. You get the opportunity to play with new girls and against different competition. In these types of events you get to see girls just play the game of basketball with no prior practices with their team or set plays. Like I’ve said before these are great because it puts girls out of their comfort zone and allows them to play different roles.
The Big Ten division has 6 teams with players from the 2022 - 2024 class. There were so many great performances it was hard to narrow them down. Here are the top performers from week one of the Fall Exclusive.
[player_tooltip player_id="304894" first="Sidney" last="Klauer"] - 2024 guard, East Ridge
Klauer was amazing on Friday showing us she’s a scoring machine and can put the ball in the hoop from all over the floor. She got to the rim with ease and was able to finish with both hands. The 5’7 guard can take you off the bounce, hit the mid range and even hit the step back three. She put up 40 total points in the two games having a impressive day one. No one could shut down the 5’7 guard, and she radiated with confidence.
[player_tooltip player_id="304892" first="Anna" last="Vaaler"] - 2024 guard, Andover
The 5’10 guard was impressive on Friday night. She stepped up and was the leader of the team controlling the pace of the game. Vaaler has a great build and size for a guard and can do it all on both ends of the floor. On defense she can guard many positions and was able to get stops by using her quick feet and length. On offense she was making the extra pass for a whole bunch of assist, and also knocked down a few threes. She is a bucket getter and will create for herself on offense.
[player_tooltip player_id="148322" first="Emily" last="Crandall"] - 2023 guard, Sartell
Crandall is very consistent and has a well rounded game. She doesn’t take a possession off and plays hard on both ends. Her best asset has always been her defensive skills where she is pest to her opponents, however the 5’10 guard has continued to improve on offense. She can score from all over the floor but is best at using her size to get to the hoop. The guard can also knock down the catch and shoot three making her hard to guard.
[player_tooltip player_id="147458" first="Kyla" last="Overskei"] - 2022 shooting guard, Maple Grove
The senior guard led by example on the court, being one of the older girls on the team. Overskei is one of the best shooters in the state and proved that at the Exclusive. She was ready to shoot, and knocked down multiple threes in each game. The 5’11 guard has also improved at driving to the hoop and finishing, making her a multi dimensional scorer now. The most underrated part of her game is her ability to see the open player where she dropped a whole lot of dimes to her teammates.
[player_tooltip player_id="304927" first="Ella" last="Kletti"] - 2024 guard, Mahtomedi
The 5’5 guard continues to raise her stock at these events. She is fast scrappy player that uses her speed to her advantage on offense and defense. She plays with no fear and has the skills to compliment it. Kletti has a great motor and goes hard all game. On Friday night she was able to get to the bucket with ease using her quick first step to beat her defenders.
